Sorry to bother you again with this but right now, as the NPC name I set : Jehl Xavier (last & Firstname).

Does the game for the NPC will add a random name like John, Robert... just next our NPC chosen name?


For example : I set : Jehl Xavier.

On the game, when I'll meet "my" NPC name, I'll see Jehl Xavier Robert ?

Ok Thanks ! Then I just put my last name on it. You'll be able to mix it with randon first name ! So, I'll see all my "children" on the game !

I also found my email in gmail's spam folder.

I created a random pirate name for my NPC name - I figure a lot of NPCs will be pirates :)

I did both my Commander name and the NPC name as 1 name only , no first/last combo. They are different of course but I did not use firstname/lastname combo.

I like the idea that the NPC might be a combination.

Hi guys, I've just updated the original post with a couple of points. Here are some answers to some of the questions raised here:


  • Can I choose my t-shirt size and concept art? Yes, you will be able to. We haven't implemented this option yet but we will let you know when it is ready to go.
  • Can't I select the gender of NPC name? Not currently and I don't think there are any plans to change this. We may manually assort them ourselves at a later date, but it is a little too early to give the exact technical details as to how this data will be sorted.
  • Can I have a multiple word commander name? Yes you can. Choose a first name, last name or a full name if you wish.
I will get you some clarification on the delivery cost and how we will be approving the various in-game names.

I spent a lot of time playing computer games with one of my brothers, who died a few years ago.

He now lives on as an NPC. I look forward to meeting him in game one day :)

All seems to work OK

Hi all,

My first post and I just wanted to let the frontier development team know that everything seems to work just fine with the backers web app.

I donated using PayPal as I was unable to pay with a creditcard (dont own one) on kickstarter. Everything seems to have been linked OK and my pledge was all there. I did an upgrade and donated an additonal 20 pounds to be able to be part of the second private beta. I used the upgrade function and payed with PayPal again and it instantly gave me the new options that come with the pledge.

I also purchased the star map and that too is showing up straight after the purchase.

My Command Name and the name for the NPC naming DB are still pending for a few days now. How much time should I expect to go by before they are accepted?

Everyone is "pending" - they haven't started going through the process of approving any yet. Since your choice of Commander name will only be granted if nobody who pledged before you has also chosen it, then they need to give everyone enough chance to submit their first choices before they start approving any.

Re: Waiting for the pending names with over 25000 commanders registering names the guys at FD will get through them as soon ans they can, hopefully it wont be too long. In the meantime have fun on here waiting :D
