Using a fully decked out Anaconda in PvE feels like cheating lol

Go into a high cz alone, it wont feel like cheating then.
Basically the hres ships need a boost, they are to weak
I wouldn't say that. Conflict zones are pretty much supposed to be the next step above bounty hunter as far as combat goes. They just need to up the pay you get from all combat in general in my opinion. I would also like to see new res sites and conflict zones taking place in areas other than at asteroid belts and in open space respectively. I.E. add in conflict zones at asteroid belts and have them take place at some space stations as well. For RES sites, adding in areas like pirate bases would rock.

Also, assassination missions can be quite difficult as well. If they had better pay it would make them a viable option as well.

As much as I love Anaconda because I prefer multi-role ships I have to say she's not the best combat ship and it doesnt feel like cheating using her. Some higher threat signal sources can give you a pain. Wing assasinations can be problematic too by doing them alone.

She's too slow, have problems with agility. You are fragile to PvP ganks too. Semi-advanced pilot will never allow you to turn your ship to your direction and if you do that then almost every ship can boost out of your range in couple seconds.

This is good. You can adjust the difficulty of the game by choosing what level of engineering to use. Everyone can have the degree of challenge they want. :)

Combat is the least interesting part of the game for me (the non-space flight model has often been discussed and I just don't like it). I therefore use a souped-up ship similar to OP for PvE.

One-shotting giants and mammoths with a fully enchanted, legendary ebony bow with level 100 archery and sneak in Skyrim also feels like cheating, but that didn't stop me from using it, LOL.

On my latest playthrough, I'm sword and board with no "grinding to level 100" tricks (no more smithing dozens of Dwarven bows), and let me say the game is more than challenging enough now! 'Easy Mode' is a choice we often make, but not a choice we have to make.

Elite wing assassination missions still pose a challenge to me. That said I can't use fixed weapons effectively so it could just be a skill barrier. I blame the lack of yaw on my stick.

I finally took the dive and decided to fully upgrade every single slot and module on my Anaconda to the best of my ability and I feel downright guilty now. Every conflict zone, every HazRez site, and every assassination mission I do now feels like a complete joke lol I show up, I release my fighter, and I go to work. I never even lose my shields anymore. Its just pure decimation. The closest I came to having trouble was when I came across an Elite Anaconda that was engineered to increase my heat by a ton, but even then all I had to do was be a little more careful about my heat management and use a couple of Heat Sinks. He very nearly had my shields down, but by that time he was already dead.

And I hear that the Corvette is even stronger in such situations and I am working towards that at the moment. I honestly can't wait to see how that goes lol

Wait till you engineer the FSD, thrusters, shields and power plant/distro.
My Annie can turn with the FGS/FAS thanks to engineered thrusters. I don't even need turrets.
And with engineered Class 3 frags, I point blank most large ships to pieces once their shields go down.
And with those souped up power plants/distro, I only use 85% capacity with everything on. I can just keep boosting and firing non-stop.

My similarly engineered Imp cutter comes a close second. It still drifts like a pig and overheats more readily though, but the tanky shields more than make up for it.

And here's me in my wil' old Vulture; afraid of Condies and their threat. Snicker.

I'd never name the guy but he sure seemed to want my posterior. His Anaconda sure seemed up to the task.
A TON of minus-Z and a Shield boost later, he was typing 'gg' and 'o7' lol. That's nice. His words amused me while I ripped his ship apart.
When it's personal for me, the ONLY resolution possible for my attacker is victory or death. He died.

I'm half way thru another run thru Skyrim.
You da man. :)

Yes but no...

The problem is there's a fine line between combat feeling "easy" to having to run away / avoid a significant number of targets.

To have the option to stand and fight (fun and an acceptable flee ratio) it seems you end up with something that makes it too easy.

.... Okay okay I haven't tried combat in fully engineered small ships yet might be a bit different. Hmmmm. That sounds stupid id rather do cqc instead of small ships.

Here's an interesting question though, what challenge in combat makes it fun?

  • Is it a longer time to kill?
  • AI that manoeuvres better than you so you never can get your nose on it? Even with turrets :p
  • Flying around in a glass cannon?
Im not sure what would be the high ground. All I know is tie fighter. It was brutal, but also fun as because of the quick and very numerous time to kill while managing a whole bunch of things, making decisions and changing course responding to events on the battlefield while you're doing it. The whole premise of combat is different in elite.. not sure it can ever be that good.??

Do you often see players using fixed burst lasers? Perhaps burst lasers should have phasing sequence as default

Pulse lasers are better (higher damage per energy):

(It was only a training wingfight, nothing special, but the effect is clearly visible. BTW it was a fair 3v3, the 3rd wingmate symbol belonged to one of our opponents, he just remained blue on the radar because bugs...)
