Utopian Enforcer Cannon is a multi-cannon ?

How about a new weapon then?

A railgun with a combined beam laser, fire projectile, accelarate further with photons...

How about railgun firing railguns?
Try to think bigger. ;)

Anaconda should have Cobra launchers. Cobras are the most damaging missile in the game, lots of ppl have munched it from head-on Cobra collisions.

Read through the thread... funniest part is when OP found that he was completely wrong on all counts and tried to dig himself out by saying he was basically trolling.

Was a good read guys and girls! Thanks for the entertainment this evening :D

..... When are projectile weapon damage going to go up as distance increases similar to how energy weapon damage goes down with distance? Cannon/plasma/rail fire increases in kinetic energy the more distance to target. If we're going to simulate energy weapon fall-off, we should do the same for projectile pick-up. Instead it seems FD treats decreased damage due to distance the same regardless of weapon. Not asking for 100% accurate kinematics, but it would be trivial to inverse energy weapon's dropoff for projectile weapons.

two words: energy conservation [redacted].

EDIT: damn thats three words.... :D

.... Bullets don't slow down because of friction, but because of air ram. If there was nothing in front of a bullet, and it only encountered the friction on its sides, it would continue almost forever.

Air ramming is most commonly seen with bicycle pumps (and that's why they get hot when used hard). It's also why objects on re-entry (like the space shuttle) get hot too.... nothing to do with friction.

You just described.... friction [redacted]!

I think this pseudo physics should only apply to those who choose to play in open. I don't think people playing in solo like peddaling a bycicle downhill in easy mode should have access to the same physics that people do playing in open. The speed of the bicycle should remain constant, and CG contributions in open should accelerate at a geometric rate. Why should people playing in solo have the same acceleration rate? Its not fair....

This is why we play Solo. We don't want random non-Newtonian science spoiling our game when we least expect it. NPCs may be dumb but at least they obey the laws of physics.

At some point, Darth Ender is going to be too embarrassed to admit that acceleration is not constant. Aside from the fine examples that everyone has provided of an object in motion in an atmosphere and in space, the formula he quoted provides sufficient evidence that an object doesn't keep accelerating: Acceleration = Force/Mass. Since Mass = constant and Force = 0 (after application and removal of force at time=0), Acceleration = 0/constant = 0. Enough said.

The mistake alone would have been forgotten pretty quickly if he hadn't then ridiculed people who corrected it.

I'm sure you're right, but I'm not sure he ridiculed to a greater extent than the average individual replying. Yes he was wrong, but ridiculing is ridiculing either way - being correct doesn't justify it.

And the still-ongoing collective ridiculing is entirely unnecessary. I'm sure everyone would have been much more considerate if this had happened in person.

edit: oops, just seen my sig - perhaps I should practice what I preach!

If you read some of the OP's messages in other posts where he has little to no regard for other's mistakes or follies by other Cmdrs,,,,,,,

Well,,,,,

You might look at the retorts and replies he has gotten from this thread in a less harsh light.

I have eaten my fair share of crow. And I am quite sure I will be served a few plates in the future.

And yes, it does taste bad. But it tastes worse the longer you avoid consuming it. Better to eat it as soon as it's put on the plate.

Acceleration is relative; our entire universe is either being accelerated due to gravity towards an epicenter, or towards the nearest/largest volume of anti-matter due to opposing electrostatic forces, which ever exerts the most force/acceleration, so is the projectile accelerating? Chew on that for a while...

Okay but I suspect most contributors had no idea of his posting history and two wrongs don't make a right. Just feel for him as I think I've previously read explanations of Newton's laws that use the term 'acceleration' in such a way that the laws could easily be misinterpreted.

You are definitely one of the good guys.

Fly well Cmdr.
