Utter incompetence

Waiting over 15 minutes for the remaining 1 minute module transfer. Only signing out and back in resolved the failure to update the module's location and availability.

Aside from fanboys, sockpuppets, and trolls, we all experience the frustration of Frontier giving us both expensive and slow module/ship transfer. At the very least they might do it right.

Lol, you didn't think of relogging earlier? How incompetent of you! :p
And yes, a lot of things don't happen until a game state change happens (hyperjump or transition to supercruise or relog) to happen. Can be somewhat or very frustrating, depends. :)

Ship transfers happen with relogging, pretty sure modules too. Seems like a network glitch. Definitely worthy of a rage topic on a saturday evening.

Feel for you OP, that would suck. I use the transfer function for both ships and modules a lot, love the function actually and never experienced a delay like you did. But then I am normally doing something else, a mission, collecting mats, scanning a system etc. when I am transferring. In fact I tend to forget the time, so I use a cheap kitchen timer to remind me when it is time to head back to the station to do whatever I was intending to do with the newly arrived ships or modules.

I would have suggested you submit a ticket on the incident, then I realised that there was nothing FD could offer in retribution, they can't give you those 15 minutes of your life back can they! But you should submit a detailed bug report nevertheless.

Do you sit there and stare out the window waiting for the FedEx guy too?

I have learned with Elite that if it says the transfer will take X amount of time that I should go do something else. Fly a mission. Go shoot something. Log out and go eat some lunch.

At least the game gives you a time frame, unlike the FedEx guy whose tracking update just says "Out for Delivery". :D

you dont even need to relog, you just need to leave the outfitting / shipyard
ship transfer messages often happen on instance change - so you may get them on relog.

This ^^

You just need to leave the outfitting screen. Relog in't needed.

That being said, it's not exactly well written when you have to do workarounds like this.

These kinds of UI errors I've found often occurred after network connection problems from the client's system. That said, I think I've encountered this similar type of bug (not module transfer rather outfitting) maybe twice in the past year or more. Hardly a case of "incompetence" when it works fine in hundreds of other uses.

LOL. Hello Sleutolbos! Indeed. :)

Which is grey in colour....

flimley

A point well taken!

Nope.

You should probably direct your hyperbole at Amazon cloud services as they provide the servers that Frontier use. And you really need to try pulling that stick out too, that, or go outside once in a while to remind yourself it's only a game.

The timer does not update in the stored module list when you're looking. Simply leaving that section and going back in will update with current timer values. You don't even need to leave outfitting, only the stored modules list.

Your post is well taken. I too don't notice it unless I'm waiting for for a module, and it never shows up. :)

beg to disagree. the point of transactions is that it can be counted on that they complete or else you get a notification. simple.

proper transaction implementation isn't really that hard, but you would dismay at what i've seen done through the years. from pure neglect to the use of sophisticated frameworks with automatic transaction management without actually a clue about their workings. from these far too common bugs that have happened in almost any server interaction (missions, notifications, bounties, ...) it seems frontier is affected too. yep, definitely plain and simple incompetence.

here's some place with appropriate space to put some lame excuses based on the complexity of a p2p system no one asked for, or whatever other funky bee es: [].
