Rather than being foremost a "first person shooter", I'd really rather see the emphasis on building real worlds, that can be explored and enjoyed (or otherwise!)
I would LOVE it if you could fly off, find an undiscovered hospitable planet, land by a beautiful shoreline and fish for a day, or go exploring or whatever.
Of course, if you happen to come across someone else doing the same, a good blaster by your side is always handy.![]()
You mean in an Eve/Dust kind of way? I would prefer them to be in the same game but that would amazing too.
David said that in 10 years, the game will be different than today. So we can think there will be a rich variety of new features
I wasn't aware of Eve/Dust but yes, that looks like the kind of thing I had in mind.
Breaking them out into different (but integrated) games would allow each one to focus on its core strength and address its core market, while avoiding cluttering the hard drives of the uninterested. Conceivably, it could go beyond Space Sim and FPS one day, though FPS is the most obvious addition.
So, we are talking about 2017. for the full game experience and that only if everything goes well? You're saying that you will first have to play a half-finished game that will feel like another space-window FPS?
Welcome filip
You might be interested in watching the Development Plan video from way back in the kickstarter, where David Braben "'fesses up" about the delays. Planetary landings in the old games were seriously underwhelming by modern standards, and it'll take lots of extra time to achieve today's expectations. They figured it was better to give people as much game as they can as soon as they can, while preparing to add landing and walking about down the road. As the video hints, you're far from the only person looking forward to these additions!
