video on how a serial ganker acts and how Fdev could easily discourage them

during a reconnaissance I caught a serial Ganker at work in the act. it stood in mid-air 6km from the port of Fraseer, with the nose of the Cutter pointed down and the railguns leveled to blow up the ships landing or taking off.
Using big eng ships against small & medium (or transport/exp ships) in a unfair way with no real consequences.
this way of unfair playing discourages most players, who will eventually all play solo, ruining one of the best features of the game: meeting and sharing the galaxy of ED together.
in addition, beginners may drop the game after a while.

Fdev: some simple tricks could improve everything for everyone:
  • extend the starports NO FIRE ZONE radius and improve fines and police counteract and intervention
  • exacerbate bounty method: notoriety on (just like when we fire on authorities) after several kills on clean and non-attacking players
  • no docking in any port if you reach high levels of assassinations and bounties on your head
  • no rank % on combat if you kill clean and/or non attacking ships
the point is: you have fun and you like to gank and play this sad way?
ok, its an open game for eveyone but you know there will at least be consequences, and continuing to do so will make it harder and harder for you to play.
just like it would happen in reality right?

Fdev please considering this.
good hunting CMDRS

Another one?
Alright I might as well address this. As a "ganker", but first and foremost a PvPer, I can tell you that none of your proposed changes would even come close to curbing me or other people from killing people we come across.
NFZs don't matter. In anarchy ports smart rounds are a good funny, and otherwise ramming them down low is good and then waiting for them to nick themselves on landing.
Increasing bounties don't matter. Dying in this game, and as such, paying said bounties is entirely optional. Similarly, NPCs are laughably weak so throwing more wet paper towels against a wall of shield tank isn't going to change much.
Stopping docking? Who cares, carriers exist.
According to the rank xp chart, not many players don't give xp to players at Dangerous+

So a bunch of bad solutions to a non-issue.

Been happening for a while (since launch). FDEV really likes this style of gameplay. They have a drinking game based on it. A ganker vs. noob thread shows up, a bell rings at FDEV - take a drink. A player quits after a gank, the little bell rings and they take a drink. A 2000+ hour player crushes a less than 100 hour player "ding" take a drink. That is why development is so slow.

Has anything changed that’s motivating this discussion to be brought up now? This has been discussed ad nauseum for years and FD’s position on the subject has been pretty clear. Serious question, I welcome some change in this area but thus far it’s been a lost cause.

Nope... its just the usual rehash of the same stuff... on both sides of the arguement :)

@Big Malibu - The fact of the matter, and I am NOT a PvP player, is that, except at choke points, you don't meet the majority of the player base in game.

You either DM them here on forums, or they are part of a Discord or other communication medium. You go find them on Facebook, Youtube, etc and engage them through third party communications. Elite doesn't even have particularly good chat mechanisms as a busy channel requires that you pay attention to the chat window instead of flying.

Then, you are ignoring the fact that outside of those choke points, you can fly for days, if not weeks, without encountering another player.

All of that means that your argument is flawed. So, yeah, it sucks to get blown up by some... person whose biggest enjoyment of the game is Online Disinhibition Effect. Get over it, find a PG like Mobius or FleetCom, and play with people that aren't in the game because they can abuse you without consequence.

Trust me, you remembering them while they forget you is exactly what they want.

Kids ...no it doesn't.
I don't have all that accounts you listed above and don't use it. I prefer try to talk in system chat...and it is easier to do when u see commander flying around.
So my example just shows you're wrong in your conclusions. And nobody counted how many people like me exist.

FD gives us the sandbox and let us play.
They will not interfere unless the gameplay turns into harassment and/or griefing.
Although their definition for those might be different than yours

So, FD will do nothing.
What you can do about him?

1) You can block him
And you'll have a nicer experience in open
2) you can play in pg with your friends
3) solo? why not?

Or... you can engineer your ship and:
  • put in the large hardpoints torpedo launchers with reverb cascade, he will bail the moment he loses shields. Then you can land and rearm
  • in addition put some cannons with force shell and watch him crash in the ground... you can combine that with torpedoes.
  • learn to fly a small ship and git gud with flechettes... those big shields will be useless.
  • and well... there are many more ways for you to turn his gameplay against him (including the lame ones like switching into solo, land, then switch into open and advertise in /system his camping)

No engineering?
Avoid going to choke points (like Deciat) in Open.

No offense, but that way lies many a rebuy. But PvP is better than no PvP and rebuys are just credits anyways ;)
