[Video] Open letter from community to Elite Dangerous

No. Feedback is welcome. I just have an issue with 18 users (or 21 now apparently) posting in the name of the “community” I am supposed to be part of and requesting signatures in an obscure and non actually traceable site.

If that is the main way you choose to offer "feedback" I personally much rather you opt to simply take the simple and honest advice offfered above instead and stop spending in the product. I can assure you that kind of message will actually be much more clearly received and much more proactively actioned by the concerned company than the one in this OP. And above all, it will indeed show FDEV an exact, extremely specific and measurable picture of this community.

Can't you as a mod change the thread title to "part of the community". Probably would have spared us 10 pages of "Well, actually...".

Believe it or not, I am afraid this thread is all about the OP.

By OP, do you mean the post itself or Yamiks. If it's the latter, there was a thread about the open letter that got closed so we had to make do with the thread about a video about the open letter.

I really hope they can also take criticism and feedback on board. If they did not want to be exposed to that then they should have followed a more direct and private channel with FDEV.

The way I read it, more direct and private channels weren't heard or received no answers and this open letter was a last resort.

Bugs, I'm sure everyone wants them fixed, including fdev, there's probably a good reason why they aren't though.
As for new bugs on new patches, well it happens, it's not ideal, but I'm sure fdev don't do it on purpose so again, there has to be a reason why it happens, maybe it's the tools they have available just aren't cutting it, and maybe part of the big 2020 update is migrating to new dev tools to help this.
So yeah, I'm critical, but I'm sure fdev are as frustrated as the rest of us.

Communication though, yeah that's a sore point. It's not that they don't communicate at all, it's just that the communication we get is just corporate babble or generic "thanks and stuff, keep playing, it'll all be great one day" things.
We're sorely missing some more transparency and a bit more detail about future plans.
I know I know, there will be some that lose the plot over anything fdev says, they're never happy, but the majority would appreciate it and, I'd definitely spend more money if I know what's around the corner and can be excited. As it is just now, I've no intention of putting any more money into the game as I'm just not feeling engaged any more, two years without a major update is a big risk, and you mitigate that risk by keeping people excited and looking forward to what's coming, that bit they just aren't doing.

So if this petition helps, great, I think we need to be careful not to start finger pointing or blaming people, the devs aren't stupid and I'm sure they want to give us the best version of the game they can, so I'll be patient on that side, but better communication is definitely the way forward :)

Disagree and the range does make a difference and so does integrity, with the trade off being power draw.

Also, what argument that its too hard? I thought my point in this little side discussion was that i didn't agree with sensors being linked to gimballed performance. I believe I am allowed to have that opinion?

Point 1: In PvE none of this matters at all- range is a nice to have but thats about it. 2: in a game about crafting an individual ship, surely more options to tweak is better than none? Where rather than face a binary choice you can instead have shades between, at the same time filling out logical gaps that justifies the mass each set has.

Don't you mean "a very tiny, practically insignificant minority of the community, I really wouldn't bother myself with it really"?

Now that you mention it, no.

I don't think completely ignoring the issues that lead to this outburst is a wise or healthy path to take for Elite. I just speak for myself though, not a tiny or huge part of the community.

So you say having more range doesn't matter, just because its PvE?

I find that statement bemusing to say the least.

As for 2, no problems with more options, but when I don't think those options are good for the game, just like the PvPers did with the heat meta and other things, i think we are allowed to have opinions ;)

To me they aren't important at all. Not one of them and there's no picklage in sight either.

All it shows is how divided the committee that ruined the petition are. Try a one line version instead next time.

Generalized GRRRR just isn't a workable slogan.

Well, the problem is you have seven or more general areas where groups and individuals are dissatisfied, which covers a lot of the game. Its not one fault but many.

It turns it from a petition to an argument.

"Meat is murder", is a good example agree or disagree the point is clear and its catchy. It also fits on a protest sign.

"We want a large variety of sometimes mutually exclusive stuff and things GRR". Just isn't really in the same league.

There's also no way for FDEV to reply to it as its so nebulous, its ultimately self defeating.

There are things in the letter, such as a test server, beta reform, better bug feedback system and so on, that I don't understand as mutually exclusive. You can disagree with what they are asking and even the way they are asking, of course.

In my opinion the problems they can have to set a common ground, it's refreshing, besides the every day monologues.

Haven't you heard the latest? We're all SDC now, even Coriolis.io and ObsidianAnt :ROFLMAO:

Welcome to the Axis of Evil, the Land of Ad Hominem XD

Sorry, it just came out. :D
I bet:)

Still, I'm right and you are not; combat balance changes suggested by knowledgeable members of the PvP community isn't the same thing as a "PvP oriented patch" which implies that there have been two whole content patches aimed at improving PvP as opposed to the very simple reality of there having been none.

I don't blame you for being testy, though.
