PvP [VIDEO] PvP Gunship Runs from Docking Computer FDL???

This is really difficult. I believe our ships can have 22 characters.

Maximum public information to potential interdictors could in some cases perhaps be provided by:

"REV GIMB 402 PREM RCON"

Maybe even a few cunning PvE guys could adopt it as a way of making it alive to the CG station, kinda like a hover-flies and wasps thing?

FDev should implement the amazing 2.3 beta 1 shield and skill booster stacking balance and drastically nerf maneuverability when you have 0 pips to engine.

*chuckles* or the dead-nettle...as a kid I used to get a kick out of plucking the white flowers from them, then stumbling into a room wearing the plant.

But I think you pretty much have it nailed, other than potentially using the ship ID as a punishment for CLogging: FD can change your ID to "BROBIN", to indicate an abuser of the Brave Sir Robin. Shame about the character limit on that one.

Falter

It is what it is; long range hitscan weapons & reverski has been a thing since forever, and I don't fault a player for using the available tools to "win" the engagement. I guess if I did have a criticism it would be Nightshady's lame attempt at using this utterly boring match to count coup on his opponent; if it hadn't been an agreed upon duel, Falter would have rightly said "so long pard" and waked out to go fight with someone who actually wanted to do something fun and interesting. This video was an example of why I personally don't fly like that, even if it would save me money and net me more wins.

The Funniest part about this fight, was that not only did Nightshady challenge me to the 1v1, but he also refused to abide by the initial terms I set, which were:

-
No Synthing Allowed, Whatsoever
1v1
To The Death, Preferably, Unless 1 Party calls GG in Direct due to being unable to continue.
-

And, it's a bit sad that Nightshady covers up the text I send him in his video when he has the white overlayed text stating I am 'threatening to leave.'

Considering that, the first time Nightshady ran 20+ Kilometers and broke our instance, while I stopped and waited for him - I basically considered that a somewhat low wake - as that's just as good as fully running away from a ship that can at most do 417 meters on boost.

If you run so far away that your opponent, with long range A grade sensors (13.5 Kilometers) can't see you anymore, and their SLF returns b/c you are over 30 kilometers out - then yeah, that's basically a Low wake.

Had he just reverted to staying in his reverskii and not completely run away - he would have lost - since when he was pure reverskii, it didn't take me long to adapt to how he was flying - even while suffering from a desync on my end from him breaking the instance.

The Funniest aspect about the Nightshady fight, isn't that he ran though - it's that his FDL needed to Synth more ammo to even scratch a 240 strength Biweave Gunship.

When my total Ship's hitpoints, equal what he has at 4 pips to sys
(3700 armour, 240 shields V. [I would assume megajoule stack] 1600 ([+]a4 pips to sys 2.38x) shields, 1500 armour]

That really says something about Nightshady as a pilot.

Any actually decent pilot I have lost to in PVP, has been able to kill me, without the aid of synth.
Nightshady is bad, he spent 50 minutes running from a Gunship - he should feel quite ashamed for that.

If he wasn't crutching on his synth, his poor Accuracy, Time on Target, and Flying would have lost him the match - EZPZ.

That's gonna leave a mark.

And inspite of all the unsportsmanlike actions, you till let him kill you AND took the low quality bait that was his posting of the video. Come on fellas...

What about 'NO' to such request ... it would be much easier take kills vs non pvp builds. It's good idea just only/mainly for pvp (1st part) and 2nd part looks as assured win for everyone using packhounds with drag. ... personally would like better npc like were in 2.1? wreaking havoc.

OOF REKT

What this episode illustrates is why a few times during my Courier 1v1 days I was only able to persuade mediums to duel me by first giving them a personal guarantee that I would stay within 3 km range at all times. (Which, I was happy to do.)

A very long time ago I remember discussing 1v1 rules for a competition with Nyxi and Derath and all agreed that a faster ship repeatedly range-tanking to restore shield should be considered to have conceded defeat. (And we weren't talking about 30 km SLF range-tanking, neither).

If only ED had 'ring outs'...

(All that said I must emphasise that I do not wish to be taken to be directly commenting on this particular duel because ofc I don't personally know the full details outside of what's been said in this thread.)

Where does your Orca hang out, True? My own little project is only a 530 boost brawler, but it might be fun to get together at some point.

Those are great ideas, guys, but that would interfere with my preferred ship names of PLZ NO GRIEF & #METOO which I'm just not willing to give up.

Oh my... The Elite #MeToo movement.

Priceless :)

I try not to be too critical of PvP videos because I am in no way an authority on the subject, but I admit that within a minute or so I realized that this was going to be a full reverski video I tuned out. That isn't fun to watch and I don't find it to be particularly compelling or interesting dogfighting.

I took my new FAS out for some spontaneous PvP one night and got caught badly by the tactic. Never again.

It think there was a mistake here. This video should have been posted in the ‘why is PvP not popular’ thread.

Mining is more fun to watch than this.

Might be time to reduce reverse speed to 100 m/s max?
That would kill FA-off as we know it, but perhaps something different would be better?

Lol, in the hangar until the Federal killer whale is hungry for Powerplay once again. Currently making FdL for dealing with bigger/spikier mouthfuls. A long day on public transport (forethoughtfully took gaming laptop with me) has helped a great deal. Have to get together once made (and tested), probably a week I guess, o7!

if fdev wanted to support interesting fights they should have kept small range lasers and slow projectiles thus forcing close quarter combat to score a hit

What? I thought that was High Waking?

So many rules on what's considered pathetic and what's not. Mind setting up a list? Preferably in descending order from worst to almost worst but not quite. Oh, and if there's a difference between a 1v1 duel and "emergent content" please include that where relevant. Thanks!

See, there you go confusing me again. Is reverski ok or not? Only in FA OFF, but not FA ON? What if I toggle between the two? Is that ok?
Seriously, you guys need to post the rules for everyone to see, because they're really not clear cut for anyone but yourselves.

ok, I should have been clearer. personally im not in the camp that sees highwaking as awful form, considering that the limitation to low-wake benefits some ships and not others (cough cough FDL).

the list iof what will get you rightfully roasted is pretty long-but is usually commonsense. things like finding out your opponents build and then changing-your build to counter theirs (EG: pack-hound missiles, scramble spectrum and lots of super-perpetrator rails), or heat cannons when they were still a thing (extra extra extra 13th legion) is for example seen as a loser move. all things considered combat-logging is pretty much the final word in complete failure as a pilot and usually entails expulsion from a group and KOS status to every PvP'er.

as for reverski, its terrible (and very 13th legion) form to do. the point here is that most people who do it are at least good enough to do it in FA-off. the FDL thrives in FA-off and its one of the first things most aspiring FDL pilots learn to do. the fact that Nightshadey cannot even crutch on some of the most abuseable game mechanics properly is what really tops that video as a complete -show, and him as the lowest of low tier pilot.

... I see allot salty people posting here :D ... (taking popcorn and enjoying reading)

1)dude posts aweful braggy video showcasing his complete failure as a pilot
2)people talk about how awful the flying he intends to showcase is
3) HURRRR-DURRRRR you sure are salty guys, amirite.

totes bruh, you trolled us good, nightshadey rusemaster status def confirmed.

These PvP groups eh?

Serious business.

still not as srs busness as the butt-hurt carebears constantly sperging about how some nasty meanie blew up their space dumpster and how open play should be a risk free environment that tolerates the most foolish of piloting.

I smile on reactions, I do not like full reverski and when I met guy using it I reversed myself and left the fight. I don't do PvP much in this game (did in other and allot), so I simply must smile when see some reactions. Nothing other, and not meant personal.

Which is what you should do.

There is no need to fight on the other guy's terms, this isn't an arena game. The FDL isn't morally obliged to engage close quarter and get shredded, and the other guy isn't morally obliged to stick it out in a long range encounter he has little chance of winning.

In my opinion the only questionable moves that exists in ED is combat logging or outright cheating, everything else is fair game.
