Voice Comms Filters - can we have it back? Devs, please answer :3

Not sure if newer console players remember, but for a while after ED has been launched for Xbox we used to have a pretty realistic audio effect/filter for in-game voice comms. After a certain update, this has been removed (without any concrete explanation), therefore if you try talking to someone in-game now, the audio will sound dull, just like if you were in party chat (instead of sounding awesome like this: )

Let's not forget that these effects were also present in the wings pilot training video by Elite Dangerous channel itself (check this awesomeness starting @ 4:46 mark:

So is there any chance we are getting it back on Xbox? Maybe there could be a toggle option in the sound settings for it.

Also, Devs, in case this could be brought back. Would it be possible to have the audio with effects coming through the xbox chat headset? Or whoever wanted to have these effects on would be limited to listening to them only through the game sound output device (normally the TV speaker)?

Thanks.

Can’t say I noticed....I just k ow voice comma didn’t work so well if at all back then so whatever was changed....let it stay working for a bit longer.

I will point out that this is a good example of why i don’t play Open.....opened fire on another commander for no reason other than....”I have to do it”

Toggled option would be good. IRC the issue was that some players couldn't understand the combination of accent and filter. This would be the best of both worlds

I don't like this so much. For me, the essence of ED is player interaction, and it's sad seeing to many people simply not playing in Open anymore.
I do get it though, it's a bummer having commanders oppening fire for no reason (which is even more predominant in the Xbox since pratically everyone is either in a party chat or doesn't have a mic; and because the UI is so horrible without a keyboard it takes way too long to change channels (direct/wing/local) because the "/" symbol is two menus away after you open the virtual keyboard, and it takes even longer to type with a controller - so apparently, it's faster to deploy hardpoints than trying to talk to the other player. I'll be proposing new and better ways for interaction in another thread).

As for

. I don't see why adding an optional toggle function would break whatever we have now. Devs wouldn't put it in the game if it caused normal comms to simply stop working.

I believe if that was the case the PC version of the game would not have the filters anymore as well.
I think the main reason is that Microsoft is (or, hopefully was*) too limited in terms of VoIP communication in game. Basically, the chat headset is (was?) unable to deliever these audio effects, it can only deliver the clear audio we hear in the party. Therefore, all the comms used to come out of the speakers (or main audio output device) together with game audio sounds.

But. No Dev has confirmed this yet for some reason.

Fair enough, thought I read/heard something relating to the accent filter thing but it was that long ago it might be out of context.

FWIW I can't see why anyone stays with the default headset mike, it's a dog not only for the user but for anyone who has to put up with the echo. Probably the best accessory for gaming on Xbox is a decent headset so you can mute the telly
