Void Opal prices crashed?

Yep, somebody docked at that station and EDDB saw that price 38 minutes ago. Like as not, they had no VOIPs to sell when they did. The new mechanic appears to be, (what you have in your hold dependent), reducing the price the more you have in your hold. This pretty much means a 512T hold full can never get that price now. Best case would likely be around 1.1 million a ton for VOIPs 512T in your cargo space, likely much less.

The days of big ship mining are over. 100-200T is likely the new sweet spot.

you can still make absurd profits. Just not at the ridiculously absurd rate we used to.
I wish more people had this attitude.

I made my fortune deep coring. Grandidierite, void opals, diamonds. Really, anything of value that I came across. I was absurdly rich in like 3 days. The fact that this game allowed me to make enough credits to purchase a stock Anaconda in 180-240 minutes was stupid.

A good workaround, if you have a large number of VOs is to jettison half of them outside the station before entering, thereby guaranteeing the price offered will not reduce as drastically. Then nip out and scoop up the VOs (before someone else does) and repeat the sale.

Too bad. Isn't the t9 fairly new? and now obsolete. Also I've yet to see Vopals going for over 700k since the update, without having any.

They don't have to. Popped out tonight to a hotspot 2 jumps from my local hub. 60 minutes round trip, 46 opals. Station buying for 535k. 24.6 mil. That's 410k credits per minute with zero effort. Just a quick check to find a station via "also consumed by" buying for 1/2 a mil or more.

That's a stock Clipper right there. It's not pre-update opals or current diamonds. It's not even optimal. Still insanely profitable.
