Voyager 1 & 2 Unidentified Signals

Probably already mentioned but there are a couple of threads out there. Three of them are in EDCodex, use the search function and search for the name Voyager. When I added that stuff to my third party tools thread and later to EDCodex I think it were the only threads about it - then. But as I just read they aren't showing up as they used to be. Perhaps the threads are still useful.

My point isn't about how to find them, my point is are they even still there?

I've found them before and seeing as I was in the vicinity I thought I'd go and have another look see, but alas my searching was futile.

I literally stumbled across Voyager 2 in Gamma. I'd heard it was out there but had no idea where to look. I went to Sol for a "Grand Tour" and had just passed Saturn when something like "Ancient probe" appeared on my scanner. I abandoned my tour and followed it...

Dude...

Not only earth but our whole galaxy.

Tonight go outside, look up.. all those stars are all in game to a pretty accurate distance and scale.

Popped a noodle yet?

No? Then listen up

Wherever you are in the galaxy the sky box is a fairly accurate representation of every star and of what you would actually see if you were in that part of space..

Seriously when you can, fly to Sol, you'll be able to pick out the plough and other constellations.

/mindblown = noodle everywhere.

Touched by His Noodly Appendage. ;)

Late to the party but better late than never.

So, just to be sure I get this straight after wasting about an hour circling away from Sol, checking out the canopy to see if I can find this elusive signal. From what I've read, the probes are still there. However, they're at over 2m ls and you need to be within 1,000 ls for them to appear in space. Is that right? The 1,000 ls maximum distance is not for them to appear in the nav panel but really for them to appear visually, through your canopy? Is it how I understand it? If so, might be easier to find a needle in a haystack... I guess Frontier wanted to make it more *exclusive*...

New Horizons is traveling MUCH FASTER than the Voyagers are

It was LAUNCHED much faster. But it is slowing down because of the Sun's gravitational pull (and no further slingshots after Jupiter, as the older probes did, for subsequent speed boosts). V1 and V2 will never be overtaken.

So, any word on which star I should aim at to find one of them? Some say 61 Cygnii, others Ross 248. Went out towards 61 Cygnii and got nothing.

This video will help. I lined up the good with sol and a couple of other stars as he did so I think you're better of doing that than lining up the stars but if you want to you can do that aswell.
