Thank you playerwon. The other option to the Reverb G2 it could be the Pico 4 I guess. Options seems limited as it seems that PCVR will be left behind mostly in the next round of new equipment for this and next year.
I find kind of funny that, despite Pico 4 is only for Europe and China by now, I have no major problems to buy it, while Valve Index is nigh impossible to buy without paying 200% more for it.
yeah pico looks like a real contender in the market.
its crazy how ignored it is by manufacturers outside the greed belt (apple, "meta", hp)... the well priced crap units that meta sells are selling like hotcakes simply because they are cheap... but they are lousy experiences when compared to something with comparatively massive computing power.
im surprised hp threw their hat in to that ring myself, but they where targetting businesses when they did... any time i talked with customer service regarding my headset they where legit surprised i bought it exclusively for gaming!
still a toddler, the vr market is a wild ride.... as it grows in to childhood it will get better.
im still pretty happy with the experiences ive had with my hp reverb, i wouldnt trade the screen resolution for anything in the world... and in spite of its failure by design features, i will likely buy another to replace my aging (and almost dead) reverb g1.... especially with the price drops im seeing of late.
having said that... if you DO buy a reverb... first thing you NEED to do is to remove the cable clip from the side of the headset, find someone you dont like or have a negative point to make to, and toss it directly at a sensitive area on their body. this clip is rubbish, it causes the cable to bend WAY too sharp and support the suspended (and considerable) weight of the rest of the bulky cable.... this will start breaking the braid in the cable. it will lose the ability to go to 90hz fast. i believe this was dont intentionally, so that hp could sell these corporate customes they coveted (but failed to attract lol) several cables per headset and increase profit per unit dramatically. ive run the cable along the top headset strap on my g1, so that it drops down behind me (better than beside any day anyway!) with no sharp bends. i used some hockey tape to hold it in place. something simple and similar to you should be available. this will preserve the integrity of the input signal and allow you to continue to enjoy this beautiful pair of displays at the 90hz bare minimum vr needs to appear smooth. im playing exclusively in 60hz rn because of this built in cable failure, and it peeves me to no end... but hp will not a)admit they pulled some apple style engineering there or b) replace my headset and cabling with new. its quite old tho, and seen thousands of hours of use in its time with me.
i cant wait till they become more mainstream, and affordable (GOOD headsets, i mean... no meta e for me thanks!). ive dreamt of this tech for 40 years now, and im excited to be part of the start.
