Why is it that so few know that when chaff is deployed, you de-target and your gimballed weapons behave as fixed?
The only difference is dps. fixed do more, but gimballed guns help you miss less.
Not when PP drops. See my post #38.

Not anymore. They are changing it in PP so gimbal weaps wander with no target selected. Silly, but that's what they're doing.
Wrong. It's a bug.
At this point I welcome anything that makes gimbal bit less attractive. Especially with pulses, since it was something like -17% damage only for gimbal vs fixed (at least IIRC, from the shield damage thread).
Wrong. It's a bug. Don't worry, it'll probably be fine. The QA user is often a bit bewildered and randomly declares stuff to be working as intended until someone tells him/her/it/them what's actually going on. There's form in this respect![]()

Agreed regarding the annoying drift of the gimballed. I also am almost always better at firing fixed weapons at range. But close up I will have gimballed weapons trained on my target much more while maneuvering around, and can fire for longer periods because of it. And the drift is not so apparent.Fixed. The dead zone at close distance only really impacts a few ships (eagle is the most obvious) and those ships are the ones that are easiest to kill anyway. Fixed weapons keep my aiming skills up, and I find the drifting on gimbals annoying; particularly above 1km gimbals miss a lot of shots that I would easily hit.
