There are honest ways to make money that don’t require you to confuse and exploit your customers. The store is completely fair as it stands now. You see real prices and you purchase only what you want. In the future (for example) you will have the option to purchase:
10,000 ARX for $5
20,000 ARX for $7
50,000 ARX $12
100,000 ARX for $22
What did you just buy? That day a paint job costs 3254 ARX. A month from now the same paint job costs 3289 ARX. Frontier just got a raise without most people knowing it. If paint packs have been $5, and they go for $7 all of the sudden, players notice that. These ARX changes will go unnoticed due to their amounts.
We have no subscription fees now, why would ARX be required to maintain this?
I get your point about separate storefront currencies obfuscating prices and bundles to be designed to leave you with useless rest amounts of points/gems/"arx".
We have seen this in enough games already, your worries are certainly not unfounded.
I also agree that whole "it's either that or subscriptions" argument is nonsense, but for some reason it always pops up when FD makes or even just hints at business model changes, so nevermind that.
The thing is, we don't have detailed info yet on how they intend to introduce that new currency.
We don't know the bundle sizes or if there's gonna be bundles at all, or if perhaps we can buy the exact amount of Arx we want.
We also don't know exactly how or how many Arx we will be able to accumulate through game play.
At this point we have to give them the benefit of the doubt, and it's not like any concerns we issue now are likely to change FD's mind about the implementation anyway.
I welcome the added opportunity to acquire these items through game play. I never spend money on cosmetics in games, but i will use customization in games that offer them without having to spend cash.
So basically, even if worse comes to worse, i'm not missing out on anything here.
And being able to just change skins on the fly from the main menu seems like a very good QoL improvement to me too.
