Wear & Tear logic

Well, I've yet to even look at the feature, as I was unaware of where/what it even was! So for all I know my ship(s) might be at 1% integrity!!!

Why (seemingly) hide the feature away? Show it on the main Starport Services screen and let you repair quickly/easily there! Or is it simply a mechanic to force you to regularly dive into menus just to check a value over and over and over. A time sink as well as a money sink!

You can guess the first thing I'll be check tonight! Along with my friends who undoubtably are also unaware of it!

Yes so I had wear and tear on all my ships and I wasn't even aware of it!

Not only is the feature tucked away, the option to pay it off isn't even obvious? - Click a heading with a cost? All feels very half cocked?

Why no show it on main Starport Services screen and incorporate it into Repair All? Why hide it? What purpose does the mechanic serve? What skill is involved with ducking into a sub screen periodically to look at a value which is hidden away for no purpose?

I just came back from a Pleiades exploration trip, ship integrity went down to 82%. That's 489k credits with my Imperial Clipper.

I tried to avoid the 'Slow down' -message as much as possible, because when you get the message, your ship usually shakes violently and even the clipper makes unhealthy sounding rattling noises...
I believe that it is a large (if not main) contributor th the integrity damage. I still made some mistakes here and there, and I also dropped 3 times uncontrollably from supercruise, which probably caused some integrity damage as well.

I started and finished at Achenar, and jumped only using economical routes, so I visited roughly 200 systems. It took me about 3 full days of playing... I also fully scanned the planets in about 1/3? of the systems. That's alot of flying around.

Then why the wear and tear From The time you exit SC till the starport?

Because "nonsensical game mechanic". ;)

Don't get me wrong: as someone who loves the A2A Simulations aircraft for FSX I'm all for the concept of wear & tear. It just needs to be slowed down by the factor of 100 or even 1,000. It's totally excessive in its current state.

You can tell just by looking at it in the Outfitting section. The wear and tear is clearly visible - the paintjob is all scratched and paint is peeling off here and there :)

Unless you've hit the "repair" button any time in the last 5 hours.

Seriosuly do you even play this game? The paintjob is tied to modules, which get repaired when you fix everything else, it's totally independent from the W/T status of your ship.

Values for W&T need adjusting lower massively. When the cost of repairing a ship from w&t becomes higher than the cost of purchasing a new ship of the same kind, the cost ABSOLUTELY needs changed. I am all for the mechanic as it provides another layer of management, but the scale and cost atm is whack.

every time I log in to ED i am facing a ton of bugs and illogical decisions,

Illogical from your point of view. Devs will never please all the people all of the time. Its one of the main maxims when making any product. And ton of bugs? Come on! The game is quite well polished now with more to come. Bugs exist for sure, as they do in any large game, but i don't remember the last time i was affected by one in any serious manner... back in Gamma possibly.

so I am not looking for a positive response here on the forums but rather would like to see the game gets fixed ;)

Well, that's a shame really, because its always better to go into something seeking a positive outcome. And to see the game "fixed" (this is subjective and depends on your opinion being "right"), the solution is to raise tickets. But of course, what you are wanting here is not a bug, therefore there is nothing to fix. What you want is the game changing to meet what you want it to be. Not everyone will always agree with what you want.

I am sure you wake up and see rainbows and unicors running around you. Even FDEVs acknowledged w&t is not working properly and want to change it as it does not make sense being cheaper way to self destruct.

For the bugs, I have a few tickets logged in since December without any reply. So ships blowing up randomly is not a serious issue? Docking pads not lighting properly, KWS scanner not working when used with cargo scanner, BH missions spawning targets which do not count towards mission completion, NPCs not being mass locked, NPCs not suffering from FSD cooldown and I could go on...

The only thing I agree game got very nicely polished stability wise, I did not have any crashes since full release.

YES, it is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced!!

I have an ASP that's not even fully upgraded, maybe about halfway or a little more, and it just cost me 40,000cr in "wear & tear" to go less than 100 light years. I checked on one station and it was like 600cr and didn't even have an option to fix, hull was at 100%. I travel to three more systems less than 25 LY away from each other, land at a station, check and then it was 40K!!

Absolutely ridiculous, seems to have jumped lately to near ludicrous state, but I'm not laughing and do not find it amusing in the least. Think I'm going to put it down for awhile now cuz that just _really_ ticked me off and I don't see the use in even trying now when t's going to cost so much just to drive around.
