Newcomer / Intro Welcome to open play "Die you Nube" , not much of a welcome

Open play is PvP. If you want to just play in the environment with others, join a PvE clan. Then you get the players, minus the player pirates.

Also, make sure you are indeed being pirated by players. Your recollection of these pirates makes them just sound like regular NPC pirates, really. Did they call you a greenhorn? Or a wench?

well i tried the game, the instructions on how to do anything are worse than poor. Then getting blown up with "die Noob!" is not greatest game experience

the interface is absolutely shocking, do you use mouse, or don't you use mouse? WTh that about, some menus do, some don't. it's clunky and uninformative.

no simple trade screen to look for cargo.

the help choice is woefully short of useful

I will give it another go at some point, but right now it blows

Hahahah. If newbies in sidewinders is your level of competition, you might want to up your game a little.

QFT. Have some rep. Popping newbies from a vastly superior ship isn't competing. Nor is using foul language over the com channel insulting them for simply being new. Even if we accept terminatahx's premise that "the new players are legitimate targets and an easy kill so why not?" (paraphrasing from several times he's voiced this opinion), that behavior described in the OP is beyond the pale and should be reported.

I unfortunately never got interdicted by other commanders, I once inderdicted one, because I was drunked and did not notice he is a player before I pressed the button, but he immediately ran away.

There should be an option that the aplha bakers and premium beta players form a police force to protect the newbees till they sprout their wings.
A sdistress button for calling in the police

Esp for new players, i see ZERO incentive to play open. I play 90% solo, but when i play open i rarely see human players. NPCs r very predictable. If ur not in anarchy, ur only interdicted by wanted Pirates unlike open where human griefers will interdict u just to greif u. greifers also only greif players when they have the superior ships so they r in ASPs and up. i was griefed in a Cobra by a human in an ASP and he must have hed 50 cell banks as i shot him with class two lazers for sev mins but he kept regenerating his shields.

You can always join a PvE (player vs environment co-op type group) only group like mobius and play there. They are at about 1500 players now and I believe PvP is only allowed in conflict type zones. Not 100% sure since I tend to avoid those myself.

Not my experience since beta in October

only played solo when server issues dictated

killed once in anarchy system by a CMDR in beta and I chose to run instead of be pirated

killed by NPC last week in Gamma in my unshielded and unarmed hauler (stripped for max cargo and jump distance)
- he only got me because the interdiction glitched in his favour and he hammered me before I stabilised and started running

got interdicted by a clean NPC in anarchy last night and escaped with 37% hull remaining

other than that! nice and safe with zero griefing

helps to be able to dodge most interdictions

See real CMDRs so infrequently in my local systems there's far more chance of NPC griefing than much else

Also I;d say, get yourself over to Empire territory where you'll find a better class of person.
This actually holds some weight. Slightly anecdotal, but in Empire Space I've personally found that people tend to be friendlier than in Federation Space.

man I don't think I have seen another player in open play
O
nce I figured out the CMDR thing then the hollow vs. filled radar icons thing I started to notice quite a few players when I had previously thought there were none. Hardly any are wanted of course, I've only been interdicted once by a player and that was after 3 hours flying around in areas I was wanted in. Only reason I was wanted was because stooped federal security flys infront of my gun while Im fighting a pirate. Srsly stay outta my fight! After 2 days of playing that's my only gripe, oh and ramming had one guy try to ram me to death in my starter ship.

I can see instance separation for genuinely offensive terms, or someone griefing the same person every moment they are playing and preventing them from having any fun. But if a pilot comes at me with a hail like "die m8 my pewpew r haXXors" -CMDR LongDong
I don't want the devs assistance. He is
a menace to the galaxy and he clearly needs to be destroyed. At that point, his ship burning up is literally the only reason I paid almost 100 bucks for this game.

I love seeing the posts on here about the seasoned veterans camping the outposts running null sig, just watching the sidewinders float by, and the moment a predator shows up, they come with holy fire from the dark to visit vengeance upon the lesser demons.

There was a really cool one I read where he would only strip their shields then let them jump out. If they persisted he would go on and start a camp fire in their cockpit. I'll admit, I was impressed. Such nobility.

In short, come on over to open play. Don't be afraid of losing your ship. Those moments when the FSD reaches full charge while sparks and smoke fill the cockpit, and any of the laser blasts flinging outside the glass could be the one that costs you, and at the last possible second the starlight elongates, and all reality blurs into an impossible extention of space/time, that my friend, is what gaming nirvana tastes like.

I do agree that pointless killing of newbies is pointless. That being said the whole play the way you want freedom does open up the possibility for a crime spree type play like grand theft space ship. However have no fear if you see me CMDR BTKILLER and you call for help I will come toy your aid.

CMDR Eli "Priest" Sorens here. Always looking for a wingman. Not a veteran, but I know enough to not get us perished. And pretty handy in a dogfight

New ( Nube ) player started exploring and got hit 3 times and killed by "Die you unfortunate Nube" players on open game.
So dropped back to single player game.

Welcome to open play isnt so welcome for new players.
Guess all games suffer from mindless kids who wait to shoot up new players for little gain.
These guys clearly attacking new "Nube" players for their perverted fun and no gain.

The good thing about ED is the the single save is the same one for Open, Group, and Solo play. So if start in a system where a bunch of idiots are killing Noobs for the fun of it, just switch to Solo Mode and work your way out into the galaxy. Once you are away from the mindless kids, you can switch back to Open and all your progress will still be there. So you lose nothing by doing that. :D

You see the beauty of the game the community is already shaping the game with rules of conduct helping and suporting each other .
just like a real live communiy .

juat a tip for you...

Also I;d say, get yourself over to Empire territory where you'll find a better class of person.

That may be true.. meanwhile drop your speed into the blue.. target the griefer .. and blow him away... i've been attacked a dozen times and so far they are all noobs themselves. If you switch power to shields and weapons in your sidewinder even your basic lasers will kill these peeps. I'm new to game but so far it's griefers zero and me loads o'kills :)

I'd be very surprised if it was real players. As mentioned above, most people aren't that familiar with chat and it's not easy to do it while flying. In 5 weeks I've only been shot at by a human player once and that was before the Gamma wipe when some people didn't care too much about getting fined and bounties as everything was going to be reset anyway.
