What Animals Do You Need to build Your Perfect Zoo?

No I swear there are some mammals too lmao



So my perfect zoo would have geese. Many many MANY geese. And they would be tamed and can be petted without the fear of being torn to shreds. I know this isn’t realistic but let a girl dream. I love geese okay



My other favourite animal is the toco toucan! The first time I saw one at a zoo irl I kinda cried (my dad was confused) because they are the most gorgeous little nuggets.



Obviously ducks are absolutely essential to… well everything. Ducks are ducks, it doesn’t need to be explained how amazing they are



Also macaws! Budgies! Parakeets! Pelicans! Storks!!



For exhibit animals I’d like hamsters and mice! I love them and I love seeing them in zoos, since my mother is deadly scared of rodents smaller then a bunny, so pets where never an option - she wouldnt come to my place anymore lol

Another one would be the orchid mantis who I fell in love with for no other reason then animal crossing and my island is already being covered in orchid mantis models, I need another outlet

And the Halloween moon crab, because it’s my favorite holiday and they are adorable af



Controversial take incoming: bottlenose dolphins. I’m glad they’re not in many real zoos anymore, but they still are gorgeous creatures and I’d like to at least enjoy them through my screen <3 no shows, just vibes



I’m not very knowledgeable in fish, but I want to mention my favourites: Koi. All the rare color variations and their adorable mouths just make me want to ask my landlord if there is any chance I can put a giant pond instead of a living room somehow?? No but seriously, a calming asian garden would be everything!



Since I love North American wildlife I would appreciate the Virginia Opossum, Turkeys and Coyotes, also wouldn’t say no to the ABB although I technically am satisfied in the bear department





Other then that, I’m a sucker for domestics, specifically cattle! The watussi and the Scottish highland are my favourites! But I’ll take a good old milk-carton-model looking Holstein Cow any day! Also so so so so soooo many cute domestic chicken breeds! And how could I live without pot-bellied pigs?

Another thing is the secret little horse girl inside of me that wants pretty horsies in fun colors please :D





And last but not least: BUNNYS

What I want: Bat-eared Fox <3 (one of my top 3 fave zoo animals of all time!)
Disclaimer: the game doesn't need another canid and IF one comes, I know deep down inside the bat-eared fox is NOT a good choice (the only thing he has going for him is a slightly different range than red fox and a slightly different diet than Fennec... Bat-eareds are basically a color difference from the other THREE Foxes we have already).
Better choices for the very optional last canid
  • Golden Jackal (would represent the iconic jackals for the first time and has a good range)
  • Bush Dog (looks completely unlike canids in game, complements Maned Wolf even though its related, and would add to SA)
  • Tanuki (looks almost as different as a bush dog)
  • Grey Fox (just because of climbing!)
Of these, I would rank Tanuki=Fox > Golden Jackal > Bush Dog

Of all the long posts I have ever read on this forum this one resonates with me the most. The ONLY things that are not my personal most wanted are the coyote* and dolphin (just because there aren't aquatic yet...). IF the game adds fully aquatic Dolphins would be needed! I love how playful they are when I saw them irl<3
*As far as coyotes I'd love to see them! but not before a tanuki or something? Would golden jackal fill your coyote longing?

I have to say that the golden jackal has a slightly cuter face and and definitely love to see them (same for the bat eared fox btw, I don’t need logic, I need bat ears lol!) but I just for the American range aspect of it id still want the coyote somewhere down the line I think - so let’s just get both :D (and the bat eared fox on top of it!! :D)

I wish! Don't tell anyone but I would like coyote (its the iconic wild dog of North America! I would love to see how Frontier includes its vocalizations! AND it would add all kinds of biomes. Golden Jackal I feel like I explained why it would be a good pick. Bat-eared Fox I just want...
Lastly, we could get the grey fox and tanuki (both because they each are the favorite of a forum member)
Those are the five canids they should consider...
But, what they add? likely just a bush dog :(

From a building perspective the grey fox would be interesting for sure, unfortunately that’s why I think they won’t happen, because they’d have to bring in all the climbing animations :(

Fingers crossed it’ll be the Tanuki over the bush dog haha

IKR! Haha. Like we won't get another canid but the one we even have a chance of is the one I don't want as much. Bush Dogs are cool but they are the bottom of my canid wants...
the only reason I want them is because I'm canid lover.

Me too! We need more forbidden puppies haha

I wouldn’t want pet dog breeds to officially make the game, but I can’t guarantee I’m not getting a modded golden retriever for my cheetahs at some point haha

My needs can now be summed up much more simply given the Eurasia pack : Latin/South/Central American mammals and Habitat birds. Are there other mammals I want that are not in Latin/Central/South America? Yes, but I don't need any of them. Spectacled Bear and the New World Primates first and foremost for me, but the Patagonian Mara, Ocelot, Coatimundi species, Brazilian Porcupine would all be welcome as well.

I would say reptiles. Nile Crocodile, a smaller habitat Tortoise like Radiated, Leopard or Red-footed(or all three, or another species), and some lizards that aren't monitors. I think Tegu and Frill-necked Lizard, as well as upgrading the Iguanas would be amazing for this.
I also dream of having the King Cobra and maybe Green Anaconda as habitat animals would be amazing. Difficult to implement, but amazing if they made it work
I also want Spider Monkeys and small, South American monkeys like Tamarins of Marmosets, as well as squirrel monkeys
But mechanically, I think my dream zoo would only be possible to achieve by upgrading the exhibit system to make smaller boxes, and null walls
Finally, my biggest wish might be the Coconut Crab. They would be a truly unique habitat animal, and really fun to make habitats for.
