What animals would you want in a Mountains or Highlands Pack?

If it a scenery pack then something like this i think is likely:

1. Spectacled bear
2. Gelada
3. Palla´s cat
4. Markhor
5. Giant chinese salamander or Mangshan viper

As for what I would want, i prefer an animal pack with the following roster

1. Spectacled bear
2. Markhor
3. Sichuan takin
4. Golden phesant or himalayan monal
5. Pallas cat
6. Gelada
7. Wolverine
8. WE: Andean condor (one can dream), if not then once again the Giat chinese salamander

If it will be a Scenery Pack
  1. Wolverine
  2. Gelada
  3. Markhor
  4. Spectacled Bear
  5. Giant Chinese Salamander (E)
And the other 3 animals if it's gonna be an Animal Pack
  1. Wild Yak
  2. Vicuña
  3. Pallas's cat

1. Pallas' Cat
2. Yak (wild or domestic)
3. Markhor
4. Ethiopian Wolf
5. Chinese giant Salamander

Additional:
-Wolverine
-Spectacled Bear
-Gelada

If it's a scenery pack:
  • Wolverine
  • Gelada
  • Markhor
  • Himalayan Monal
  • Chinese Giant Salamander
If it's an animal pack, the additional animals would be:
  • Spectacled Bear
  • Mountain Goat
  • Pallas Cat

Scenery Pack:
Hamadryas Baboon
Spectacled Bear
Markhor
Pallas Cat
Snowy OWL (Exhibit)

Animal Pack (+3):
Alpaca
Rock Hyrax
Wolverine

Honorable mentions:
Takin, Aoudad, Mountain Goat (In my opinion am animal pack can come with 2 Goat species (I would choose the Takin) but I doubt this will happen

Guanaco, Vikunja (As we already have the domestic Llama within the Game I would like to See the domestic counterpart instead of the Wild variants)

This would be one of my most anticipated packs. My main wish is that they don’t waste spaces on animals completely absent from captivity like wild yak and Ethiopian wolf.
I would love a Yak in a pack like this, but only if its the Domestic version. I hope we don’t get a ‘Wild Water Buffalo’ situation all over again.

Said this six thousand times, but my ideal Highlands Animal Pack would be:
  • Sichuan takin
  • Gelada
  • Vicuña
  • Wolverine
  • Himalayan monal
  • Alpine marmot
  • Andean bear
  • Chinese giant salamander (E)
The animals I'll get angry over not being in this kind of pack would be the takin and gelada, the rest of species could be altered for many other options and I'd be happy with it too. Some alternatives we could get:
  • Tajik markhor
  • Himalayan tahr
  • Bharal
  • Desert bighorn
  • Barbary sheep
  • Nubian ibex
  • Chinese goral
  • Alpine chamois
  • Rocky mountain goat
  • Domestic yak
  • Manul
  • Darwin's rhea
  • Andean goose
  • Bar-headed goose
  • Capercallie
  • Blue-eared pheasant
  • Reeves pheasant
  • Cape hyrax
  • Mountain hare
  • Long-tailed chinchilla
  • Bobak marmot
  • François langur
  • Mangshan pit viper (E)
  • Kea (WE)
  • ....

Would the giant salamander be too big to be Exhibit type? Could the giant salamander be big enough to be Habitat type?

In real-life, some monitor lizards that are smaller than Komodo dragons were like Exhibit-types.

Giant salamanders behaviour-wise are peak exhibit animals, I was thinking they could get a "unique" box for them but that's too much to ask.

Given that the Arid Animal Pack somehow lacks a Hamadryas Baboon, I feel like unless Frontier is actively avoiding adding monkeys, there's a good chance that they were excluded due to a baboon being planned for another pack. This brings to mind a Gelada for the often speculated mountain theme. So, if you were to predict a Mountain Pack or come up with your own roster for one, what animals would be in it?

My personal choices for a scenery pack, which is more likely if it's the next DLC: Golden Takin + Gelada + Andean Bear + Alpaca + California Mountain Kingsnake
My personal choices for an animal pack: those from above + Ethiopian Wolf + Chamois + Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep

As far as the realism of my choices go, I feel like my scenery choices are realistic enough. The Takin and Andean Bear have been requested for a long time, and not only was the Alpaca in Zoo Tycoon 3, it could also use the new spitting mechanics. My animal pack choices are less realistic. The Ethiopian Wolf- although unpopular as far as requests go- is on there mostly because of Zoo Tycoon 2 nostalgia. I feel like Frontier does choose some animals based on their appearance in ZT2. Chamois is my personal preference over Markhor. And lastly, the Bighorn Sheep is a rather iconic North American animal and it makes sense to give NA more rep.
Pretty conclusive of what I want. Highland one would probably be an animal pack in Dec.

If it’s a scenery pack
  • Ethiopian Wolf (EN)
  • Spectacled Bear (VU)
  • Markhor (NT)
  • Wolverine (LC)
  • Chinese Giant Salamander (CR) [exhibit]

But if it’s an animal pack, what do i think it will be
  • Ethiopian Wolf (EN)
  • Spectacled Bear (VU)
  • Markhor (NT)
  • Wolverine (LC)
  • Barbary Sheep (VU)
  • Yellow-footed Rock-wallaby (NT)
  • Tibetan Antelope (NT)

  • Chinese Giant Salamander (CR) [exhibit]

I would really love this pack, sooner or later! With building peaces or not.

Saiga (CR) - antilopinae
Saiga_antelope_at_the_Stepnoi_Sanctuary.jpg

Absolutelly unique and Critically Endangered animal seen nowhere else.

Kiang (LC) or Onager (EN) - equidae
images
images

While Kiang is more unique in color and ear shape (no other equine with this ear shape) it's has the Least Concern of conservation.
Onager looks less unique as it would be second "donkey" after african wild ass but this species is Endangered.

(to make this pack more diverse I would add Musk deer instead but these two species are very close to my heart, that is why I've put them there and Musk deer for animal pack version instead)

Tibetan fox (LC) - canidae
755

Even though it's not endangered species we can agree it got it's popularity how strange and 'unamused' look it has, there is no other fox like this.

Wild Yak (VU) - bovidae
_20220906_on_yaks.jpg

We can't forget Vulnerable wild yaks for this pack. Unique and majestic looking animal.

For exhibit animal, I am not sure.
Probably Toad-headed agama or Gobi racerunner

If it was an Animal Pack (which I would be sorry for the lack of the building pieces) I would add also these animals:

Pallas's cat (LC) - felidae

Another unique and adorable 'unamused' fella.

Musk deer (VU) - moschidae
Siberian-musk-deer-Moschus-Moschiferus-tusks.jpg

If this animal won't be represented anywhere else, it's the perfect time to make this unique Vulnerable species shine.

Hog badger (VU) -mustelidae
images

I am sure this one have a lot of fans and would be a second badger after the european.

Tibetan antelope (NT) -caprinae or Tibetan gazelle (NT) -antilopinae

I can't chose between these Nearly Threatened species. They are both unique in their own ways. Gazelle is cute and fluffy, antelope is standing out more with it's unique fur pattern and horns.
Not sure if it exactly fits Mountain/Highlands but I was thinking of it as some sort of tibet/mongolia type of DLC.

1. Gelada/ Hamadraya baboon. It feels like the only thing that would make not getting a baboon in the arid pack make sense. Technically, colobus monkeys have some montane range and would be my absolute primate of choice, but any monkey would be lovely.
2. A habitat bird. Frontier, please, heed our cries. A high altitude, big additude pheasant or the high flying barred goose would be the most pleasing addition.
3. Golden takin. A lovely splash of color.
4. Pallas cat. Let's reuse that sand cat rig to add the BEST cat. The grumpy one.
5. Andean bear. Let Paddington come live in our zoos pls.
6. Rock hyrax. How much fun would these little guys be? Especially right next to an elephant habitat.
7. Markhor / Serrow/ Big horned sheep / Wolverine. I'd far prefer one of the ungulates (I'd love all of the ungulates) but the forum's wolverine love must be acknowldged.

Exhibit. I know that hoping for a kea is probably a hope too far. But want.

  1. Francois Langur
  2. Sichuan Takin
  3. Pallas' Cat
  4. Rock Hyrax
  5. Hamadryas Baboon
  6. Spectacled Bear
  7. Southern Viscacha
  8. Exhibit: Giant Salamander (or Bald Eagle if aviary-style exhibits that aren't walkthrough are implemented)

1. Andean or ABB: it’s been a while since we have gotten a new bear and since this year NA and SA have not gotten any attention.
2. Vicuñas of alpacas: my first job was raising alpacas ftr. May be more natural to have vicuñas instead.
3. Geladas: such a unique monkey that could be the one African rep in this list.
4. Markhor: the goat rep and middleast gets some love.
5. Takin: northern Asia and some sheep (sort of) rep that is needed.
6. Roosevelt elk: a NA rep and a member of the deer family currently not in game.
7. Lyre bird or capercaillie: AU and EU need something
8. Koi pond WE: if we can somehow incorporate a north Asian theme regardless of being a build of animal pack I think it would be a great opportunity to include koi.

There are lots of great ideas on this thread. But your's is the first one where I went right down the list and thought "yes! yes! yes!" I would be thrilled if an animal pack came out with even half of the animals on your list :)

The koi pond idea is brilliant. Something like that has been on my wishlist for awhile (although, not necessarily expecting it). Koi ponds are very common in the larger parks where I live. It's always very peaceful to take a quick break and watch the beautiful fish swim in the clear water while turtles bask in the sun on some rocks or fake logs.

1. Sichuan Takin
2. Markhor
3. Hamadryas Baboon
4. Spectacled Bear
5. Pallas’ Cat
6. Wolverine
7. Rock Hyrax
Exhibit: Chinese Giant Salamander
Perfect pack. Would change the rock hyrax for a rhea just because of personal preference but even with the hyrax this would be so close to perfection. Perfect would be with an andean condor as WTE. But for regular exhibits the giant chinese salamander is one of my most requested animals.
