Real World Theme Parks What annoys you when queueing for a ride?

- When you made it to the gate and those fastpass blokes pick your exakt row...

- When there's a bunch of sub-interlectual teenagers growling around.

- When there is no sun protection on a hot day or when you wait in a bunker style hall without air-conditioning. (Winja's @ Phantasialand, Bandit @ Movie Park....*cough* *cough*)

- When people ignore non-smoking rules around you

- When you see a lot of vandalism like edding drawings of school group xyz.

- When the queueline is to wide and takes ages to move a step forward.

- When you come into a big room full of zickzack queue

- When there are annoying music loops repeating after 3minutes and there is an hour long queue. (Flying Dutchman @ Efteling...)

The most annoying thing is when someome takes forever to put there bags in the cubholes in stations, and take FOEVERRRR! Nemesis, Galactica and Rita @ Alton towers [mad]
I really like the system they use on the smiler and thi13teen they use for bags, but when you have bags and a massive group doesnt and they all go infront of you and get a good row, or on the smiler get 1 train that doesnt kill you..

The only thing that seriously annoys me are the people who try to bring their little kids onto a rollercoaster, completely ignoring the height limits. Then spend around five minutes debating the staff for the ride so that their little kid can get onto said coaster (ultimately not being allowed on), causing quite the delay. [sad]

I used to operate the Viper roller coaster at Barry Island Please Park (Many years ago).I hated this. But quickly found the best way to deal with it was to use the radio we sometimes had to request another body bag at the coaster, I am going to need it in a few minutes. Worked everytime. Of course I never really used the radio. Just pretended. Most parents found the funny side of it and I always made sure the kids never heard me say it. It's very odd what you can get away with when you put someone on the spot like that.

Alright here goes. I'll get the obvious stuff out of the way;

Smoking, Queue jumpers, people with excruciating body odour and all of the usual niggles such as loud folk and so on and so forth. But there a few specific instances that really ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎ me off.

First, I went to PortAdventura - and in every single Queue there, there were young kids physically trying to push past me. (I mean literally, they would lean in to me, try to squeeze past and push me aside.) They would do this in groups, but I am 6'2'' and pretty heavy set. I have no problem shoving a queue jumper one if they were 10, 110 or any age in between. I'm waiting in line and so will you. Honestly, it was like people in that park had no manners whatsoever and the staff didn't seem to care either.

Then at Alton Towers, I was in the queue for Th13teen and this chap was walking through the queue saying he was "trying to get back to his family." He must have cut past 100 or so people before he got to me and I told him I would not let him pass me in the queue. He went on to explain that he left the queue to fetch something for his kid but it was abhorrently clear he was just ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎ting in order to make it to the front. When I told him I wouldn't let him by, he said "Are you joking?" to which I replied "No. If you have someone ahead of me in the queue that you want to rejoin, they must come back to where you are." He was getting quite angry, but I think he could see that there were several other people around us in the queue that were angry too (at him) and so he put his tail between his legs, walked back down the queue and left.

But the thing that annoyed me more than his feeble attempts to cut a one hour queue was that so many people were just letting him do it? Honestly, not one person in the hundred or so he passed had the stones to say "excuse me but I'm not letting you cut the line."

Come to think of it, Th13teen always has someone trying to cut the queue just as you get to the ride by trying to manipulate the single rider access etc. Idiots.

A lot of you talking about smokers.. and I'm thankful I have never experienced that!

The only things I've had were line jumpers.. most of queues are uneventful... obnoxious people too.. I've had that...

OH I did have a VERY bad case of queue jumpers on a ride once that... I honestly didn't even know what to think. Was waiting in line for this ride:

When not one... not two.. not three.. but at least 6 people line jumped over a bunch of us.. just walked in the line and cut in front of all of us.. all so the 6 of them could be with 4 of their other friends.. I really should have said something but I didn't.. and they never got in trouble.. [mad]

Never letting that happen again. Ever.

I must say the most annoying thing for me is when people talk about the ride/coaster to their friends/family and just keep on blabbing utter bullcrap facts.
It makes me want to slap that person and tell them to get their facts straight.

Also what annoys me are people that vandalize stuff because they are bored. Or start talking about things, little kids should not be hearing, thinking they can't understand their language anyways.

I really never had the problem at a park with line jumpers, but it is too bad that they can't be escorted out of the park.

Line jumping is illegal in California.

Can't save places, can't get in line, leave and come back later. Overall in society this is a good rule.

I'm not sure as to the penalty but all parks have warnings of ejection from the park.

Queues are flat out boring and hurt the legs more than walking.

Disneyland does a good job of making queues interesting with tons of interesting things to look at. and making waiting in line an experience.

A big group of friends also helps the boredom.

I can't tolerate people who push you deliberately and pretend as if nothing has happened. Someday, I am gonna give a good reply.[bored]

Smoking is a problem, though the park has smoke areas, though guests don't use them...
its also bothers me when seeing someone in line with one of those huge stuffed bears.....

since working at an amusement park for 7 years, I've seen my fair share of stupid people in queues, trying to bring on drinks, making their kids wear higher shoes to ride the ride that is not for them, jumping the fence (with no people in line). The worst thing though is guests trying to tell me how to operate my ride.....

I remember some guy was trying to trick me when I was in line for Xcelerator at Knott's. He looked at me and said, "Did you know that 5,000 people break their necks on this ride every year?" An obviously fake fact. So I responded "yeah, did you hear about the time the cable snapped?" (Something that actually happened a few years back on the ride). And he was all like "What" and I said "the cable snapped on the ride a couple years ago one day, and the people in the front seats got lacerations from the broken cables" (again, completely true story, there's even video of t somewhere... I think). The look on his face after I said that was hilarious though[big grin]. Al my knowledge of roller coasters finally helped me in life... kinda.

Intamin rides and cables, Yeah, unfortunate combination sometimes. Same happened to a drop tower i believe.
Only that was a bit more than a laceration.....
