What are the most common zoo animals?

I have been working on this personal project for a while. I have tallied animals according to how often they appear on zoo websites, for over 50 zoos. The attached link will bring you to my Google document where you can suggest changes.

If there is an animal you have seen at a certain zoo that I missed, or a zoo to include that I haven't done yet, please let me know.

Cool, but can i know based what this list is based on? I see there zoos all around the world. Did you used some sort of ranking ,,highest rated zoos of the world,, or you just picked them randomly.

This probably sounds like a nitpick in the grand scheme of things, but Cheyenne Mountain Zoo actually lost their mountain tapir several months ago.

Here is a top 100 from zoos in Europe and a few other locations https://www.zootierliste.de/?org=10
For some reason this part of the website only comes in German, so you might need help from Google.

Edit: you can even make it into a list much longer than 100 in the bar at top of the list.

So far, I've picked them randomly. I used the list of AZA accredited zoos to start with though.

Another tool you might find useful in making your list is the Zoo Chat forums. They've got threads for a lot of major species that meticulously try and track how many of a given species or genus are kept in zoos in a particular region.

North America - General

I think the NA and European forums have the lists that are closest to being comprehensive, but other regions seem to be taking a stab at it as well.

May or may not actually be of any use but I figured it could potentially be a worthwhile aid for a different way to grab data, going by species instead of by zoo.
