What are you doing with your AX weapons?

So the "AX Xeno Scanner" is the "Anti-Xenos Xeno Scanner"? To be fair my notion is a guess based on standard military nomenclature of our time as I've not seen it officially clarified elsewhere, perhaps you have a source?

Just an assumption, because that acronym would make sense to me. Not seen it clarified anywhere.

Guys… it's currently the most balanced and interesting PvE content in the game. I know, I know, but still, check this thread.

Edit:
When you reverski, they don't follow you in a straight line anymore. They are more maneuverable now and make it hard to hit the hearts. The thargon swarm aggroes you increasingly, when the third heart is gone they kamikaze into you. It looks like the new stuff is needed and works (MCs, Remote Flak). Also, you can't escape the whole yellow laser thing after the second heart goes down, anymore .

My Ax weapons will gather dust until its shown that :

1) 1 wing can consistently kill thargoids. 2-3 wings killing a thargoid, with an alpha strike, is not intended gameplay and broken. I am anti-social and do not have the patience with the networking in this game to wait for 2-3 wings to get gathered for one kill. Total waste of time. The first week was hella fun. The thrill is gone.

2) 'adapting'. If each week is going to feature nerfs (adapting), I will wait. Currently my policy is to do up to 800T of cargo for whatever Ageis CG it is (2 runs in a cargo anaconda) , and stop. The first week i did 10K tons, but since the 'adaptation' (week 1 nerfs) , the wind is all out of my sails and i will let the chips fall as they may.

3) I really do not like fixed weapons. I know, I know :: GIT GUUD. You know what ? I Dont Care. ,,!,,

I would pay twich prime subscriptions to watch ED with 1 wing of 3 pals from fdev to consistently kill thargoids. Sign me up for this. 2-3 wings insta klling them is . Broken imo.

The first week was great, nothing yet has measured up.

Yeah, same. First week was good, lost interest right away when the nerfing started and solo became pointless, sold all the AX gear and went back to what I was doing.

I don't have any. I don't even know what "AX" means.
(A)lienE(X)perimental probably, they are the anti-Thargoid weapons in any case.

Got 2 of the MCs and 2 of the Missile Launchers... put 2 AX MCs and a Xeno Scanner on my Diamondback Explorer... not had a cause to try them out yet though.

You folks are actually thinking about trying to make "optimal use" of these new weapons? You are joking, aren't you? You managed to get one weapon to actually work, and an emergency intervention immediately took them away from you. What exactly do you imagine you are going to be able to do that the devs cannot and will not immediately counter?

You aren't at war against aliens presented by reasonable game masters here. You are at war with the almighty devs, and you don't have a snowball's chance. Period. Bad game masters can appear anywhere - including in computer games.

There is nothing that is stable in the game. Absolutely nothing. The BGS is in complete disarray with the constant measures against the players by the devs to confuse and disorient. There is nothing you can count on, no place for any kind of footing no matter how tentative, except the incredible malice of the game devs.

1 wing can consistently kill a good, just need to be good enough.

Secondly yeah the nerfs are the worst but I guess it wasn't intended to kill a goid just using missiles, as for fixed weapons there are turreted variants, but honestly that's more of a personal gripe rather than a problem in the game

I'm stocking up on some AX weapons and scanners until the Thargoids decide whether they're attacking the Bubble or not. I'll be ready for them if they decide on war. Until then, business as normal.

The Flak cannon might be a dump fire missile replacement for ground assault missions, but other than that... maybe a giant doorstopper?

"Do not ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by —"
Oh well that's just as mean. Never mind.

This ^^ !!

It's like watching some amateur dramatics society. 3 CGS for weapons, and not one of them completed. Yet the weapons were still available?

FDev is trolling you guys. And yer all running around, like, 'but we're at war', 'Thatgoids'... Yeh right. War... in a USS. Laughing stock of the game world right there.

And you know the worst part? Those of us with no interest in this ladybird fantasy, are left waiting for bugs to be fixed in the real game, while the wannabe booker candidates maintain this mini-game.

I'm working on an FDS. Tried an FAS but not quite enough hard points now, FGS maybe better but I wanted something a bit more of an all rounder for any different Thargoid content.
For the FDS it's 2 missiles, 2 MC's, a couple of PD's, a flac cannon and scanner. Plenty of intervals for armor, FS, AFMU and CR racks. Doing the engineering round at the moment then I'll take it down there for trials. Still trying to decide on biweaves or pure hull. The FAS did well on pure hull.
I figure we're going to have to learn to fight them at some point, besides they may not have forgiven me for '84 yet.😊

Id go engage Thargs, but why? Theyre not attacking any settlement or system.
There have been reports of random Thargoid attacks without any apparent provocation, there have also been reports of Thargoids essentially reacting (defensively?) to player behaviours.

I am of the general view of Live and Let Live, but I will not roll over and die without a fight (assuming no chance for escape) if a Thargoid attacks. I would rather have anti-Thargoid weapons/defenses and not need them than need them and not have them.

If there is a faction of "Thargoid Pirates" then they deserve the same fate as any other pirates... thruster hauling though a CME sounds like a good start. [cool]

Personally, going to sit this one out for a few reasons..

1: The whole AX weapons thing is annoying. I need special weapons, but the effects change from week to week ? And I can only have 4 ? But I've got a ton of weapon slots.... Thats why I got my big ships. Sigh.. let me know when you get if figured out and I'll bother to equip my 'Vette. Until then I'm not chasing a moving target.

2: Are the Tharg's attacking ? Yes ? No ? Maybe ? Multiple stories on all sides. Who's been provoking who ? Why ? Until I get an answer, I'm not taking a side.

3: I've sort of reached an existential crisis. I have tons of credits. I can have any ship I want ( and do ). King/Admiral. Triple Elite. So.... why am I dragging passengers around the bubble for credits ? Or kissing up to station managers ? Or hauling fish ? Or killing criminals ? Almost 3 years in.. and I have no enthusiasm. I had hoped for a 'Rift story line.. Or some sort of cool Tharg thing. But what I have is.. go kill new looking ships.. with kind of new-ish weapons.. but first we're going to tie your hands behind your back by limiting how many you can put on your ship.

I'll wait for the dust to settle in a few more weeks before I come back.
