Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Boo.
It's a tourist beacon instead of something that looks like voyager 😔
I might not bother with the others in this case.
The actual thing is way out, like 2.1 million ls, you have to find them with the FSS. Sorry if you already knew this.

Spoke to soon lol

Detour: At 158 jumps from my carrier, I'm heading for a nearby asteroid base (Sadr Logistics Depot) in this direction...need to repair all of my heat damage and stock up on some more heat sinks...maybe they'll have a larger fuel scoop...

...might log in to Horizons first. Hopefully that'll park me in orbit so's I don't have to risk the same ascent profile twice!

Turns out they've left me at Jameson's Memorial anyway, which is perfect because I was on my way back to the bubble 😹

Something like 50 mil in scan data available. Time to go spread that out over a few big factions for some new allies!

(And at least if the controls go screwy on launch I'm in zero g now!)

Also I can't remember what this was before, but it's nice that it's close to the next one 😸

Edit: surprise event!

Wasn't expecting this... I guess I can sell it to Jameson's, since it has no effect on faction rep?

Big thank you to Ikaros in FDev support for saying they'd recover my lost scan data (this time, at least)! 😸
Glad it all went this way. You might know this but just to make sure - your logs, that can be viewed by a log parser tool (or by a notepad in case you don't want a log parser tool) do list all your lost bio scans with planets and all the data required to find them again. I. e. if you want you can just go and scan them all again and it shouldn't require a lot of time as you can just build a road from one planet with bio signs to another. Or at least put a bookmark for the future when you may just feel like salad hunting.

What's Colonia like these days?

I've only been once and it seemed a little sparsely populated around those parts.
I've spent most of the summer (taking into acc that obviously less play time in the summer due to vacations etc) in Colonia. Felt nice, it's like a small (and the one far away from everything) city. There's indeed nearly everything you could think of that is present (even a local communist faction conveniently selling e-breaches and buying your synthetic pathogens in case you join a dark side - no anarchies there), but as with all these small cities - only one bar, one restaurant and stuff like that. Up to you if you like it that way, but that looks cute. No noise also like in yer capital.

Was not too much into exploring, but i did a number of scans on my way. Mostly planetary ops and some engi out of the mats i got. I tried some trading but given up quite fast (what's the profit? 10k? seriosly? how you poor guys even make a living here?). Mostly that + brighter skies. It's really like visiting those quiet small cities, first thought is ok, shall i sell everything and go live here? I assume the locals are thinking the same when they visit the capital instead. Surely to visit again. Next summer maybe.

So after a sudden and unexpected loss of all control caused my explorphin to explode all across the surface of a mundane backwater planet at the bottom of the galactic disk... here I am back in the bubble. Kind action by FDev support means that despite taking the quick way back to Jameson's Memorial, I still have my scan data, which I am now handing in to various factions.

But first, let me just say: never go to Flyooe Dryeia DG-D c29-0 1. It is cursed. It hates you. This planet actively seeks your life, and with 1.6g of surface gravity, it's pretty good at taking it. Do not be tempted by the warm tropical sun and exciting geysers for they belie the fierce magnetic storms that wreck havoc with your instruments and controls. You have been warned.

So anyway, funny story, I have a shortlist of the biggest minor factions which I want to hand this scan data in to, with an eye to maximising the number of systems in which I have at least 1 ally, and thereby increasing the places I can find good work. I had 13 of the top 20 already, and today I'd done 2 more of them, and was on my way to the 3rd when, as chance would have it, I passed through HR 17, the home system of Church of the Space Cat.

And I mean... how could I resist that? 😸

Shrodinger City even knows my favourite parking spot.

So yes, well. Fate has spoken, Church of the Space Cat now has about 15m worth of scan data, and I have all of 7 more systems added to my tally. Worth it. It's not always about the size of the faction 😹

Also the previous 2 added 271 systems so I think I can be forgiven for one little personal indulgence.

Wellington Beck now wants to see me. Once I ply him with the goods he seeks, I'll be asking about Uma Laszlo. She'll be asking me to pick a fight with the Sirius Corporation: I see plans within plans for that. I did not say this - I am not here (as the saying goes).

Once that's done, I ought to get some mining in to buy tritium.

From there... well, maybe a trip to Colonia. Not sure, maybe. I went once but it was a long time ago.

EDIT Gratiutous shot of me and the gang after an uproarious CZ:

Hmm... just ranked in at 765 on Inara

Best advice; tap up the Fleet Carrier Owners Club. They have a discord and a reddit and run regular scheduled trips between the bubble and Colonia. Heading in either direction is now a case of boarding the carrier on a given day, and next morning you wake up where you want to be. Amazing service 😸
