Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Yeah, Tussock as well as Frutexa often grow like grass...

I think I mentioned this in an earlier post, though I thought it would be lag related...

I get this uncomfortable feeling that the ADC has a new kink:
When passing through the mailslot, right after the toastrack left the line of sight from cockpit, the ship would "tip over", nose down about 20° and start rocking back and forth as if something under the ship (at the rear) had got caught in the rack. But there is nothing, at least nothing visible. When you stay at the angle and accelerate away (to break the loop), you hear a sound as if you touched the toastrack and also get an according warning from the STC.

To avoid this, I now wait until the nose of my ship is clear of the airlock's force fields and hit the accelerator to abort the autolaunch while the trajectory is still perpendicular to the rack.
I've never had issue's with auto-dock but major problems with auto-launch, I've been doing manual launches since I got back to the civilized galaxy.

I seem to see myself able to manually get an Adder through the mailslot in one piece, but I don't feel too comfortable getting my Python through there, yet.
Until monday, all was fine in autolaunch land.

Just make sure your landing gear is up (down pad + R), it can be tricky at Jaques Station because it's incredibly busy. I can't count how many times I had to boost entering the slot because I saw an incoming ship at the last second, never a dull moment. :)

Someone in this thread was asking about how to get on-foot upgrades without combat. Burr Pit has put out a video on that just now.

So, check it out if you care about it :)

I think that was me. Cheers.

That video is really good explained. Even my seepy brain understood that.
I'm really glad I made the decision to follow The Buur Pit a few days ago.

Never been to Jaque's Station, yet...
Those incidents were luckily in less busy moments, so nobody impatiently waiting for me to get things sorted...

I was thinking i should have brought an arc-cutter, but i think the genetic sampler might actually be better for removing the bolts - arc-cutter is for fixing punctures? 🤔 ;)

The Python is a fairly flat ship so you have plenty of clearance above and below it as you exit the slot as long as you don’t roll it on its side.

Pay attention to your scanner as you approach for ship markers in front of you and at the same level as that could be something on its way in.

Do all your lining up before you start moving towards the slot, might as well keep things as simple as possible at first.

Hold your speed below 100 that way you shouldn’t get too severe a penalty if you bash into another ship, but don’t go too slow or you will start getting warnings for being just outside the slot without docking permission (IIRC 70 is just fast enough).

Practice with smaller cheaper ships first with no pips to engines to make them more sluggish.

So... uhmm... arc-cutter or sampler or both for this awkward situation with Fonticulua Lapida shoots? :geek:

First sample the plant then incinerate it, bio sampling a cloud of smoke can get tricky.

The ADC really is having issues with Coriolis Starports... that's another toastrack smashed into and a fine incurred. Weird.

If it was a Cutter I wouldn't be surprised but I'm only in a Viper IV. Seems to be happening ever since U16.

Is this just me?
Nope, you're not alone. My first adventure of this kind - minus the fine, as I was quick enough to get out of harm's way - was on monday. In a Cobra. And it isn't just Coriolis, anything with a toast rack can cause you issues.
I'm now not waiting for the ADC to fail or succeed in getting out of there and start accelerating as soon as the nose of my ship is clear of the airlock.
