I’ve been wanting to shoot some on foot footage properly for some time - it’s a bit difficult when one’s preoccupied with shooting the targets… this idea of an in-game meet-up might just present the right opportunity for thisI may do a video just for giggles. I'm not really very good though. I think I'd need juggle some setting though - the last one I did was in 4k and, when I was uploading it, it nearly killed the internet.
Nowadays, you can see in the mission offer screen how high the fines for failure are...Hit a very annoying problem trying to make a basic delivery.
Mission cargo definitely on board.

Mission board acknowledges that I've arrived with the cargo.

But there's no Mission Depot to hand the items in.

...I have now realised that both are to be delivered to Skeggiko Blue Electronics Corp...

Not sure what to do here. I don't want to abandon the missions and be hit with penalties by factions I was specifically trying to get reputation with, but I suspect there's no helping it... guess I'll just log off for a bit and see if it magically works later. Bit disheartening. Hopefully the penalties won't be too severe.

I think they are also mentioned in the contracts tab in the left panel of your cockpit.
It's rare that a faction gets kicked from a system while you're in the midst of a mission, but it can happen. Just a bit of bad luck for you, I'm afraid....I have now realised that both are to be delivered to Skeggiko Blue Electronics Corp...

That is pretty much exactly the point, remember they blow up billion credit ships for parking offences.Meanwhile I still can't decide which power to pledge to.
I used to be for Aisling, because most of the time my combats are one and done and the big shields are good for staying alive. But equally a full load of missiles might produce the same effect
I do do a lot of exobio, so Pranav might be sensible. Although he does seem like a cultist. But then, every single choice is in some way a cultist, warlord, posh warlord, slaver, 'democratically elected' hard-right politician, or ruthless businessman. They're such caricatures that everything about them seems to have come through the lens of a news outlet aligned to someone else. Although maybe the point is that ED's universe is actually quite dystopian and everyone in power is basically the same.
At this point I might just see who's got the biggest Discord, because I would enjoy following that and coordinating a little to expand the territory.
I really need to watch Dr Strangelove, finally. If only to get the reference.I might want to choose the setup…
Right I definitely want to choose the setup.
The location is inside the PWR control room of an empty base and everyone is armed with an L6 and wearing an Artemis suit.
The music is from Reservoir Dogs or the end theme from Dr Strangelove.
Oh yeah, I never take those heavy black box missions unless I'm in something which can run, and I'm always sweating like the pilot in Airplane as I pick off the boxes.Enjoying the double boom going on at Shinny D. Regular large shipments going out to the system next door has gotten me a chunk of local rep and ended up with the Federal Navy giving me a couple of special missions.
This one was a black box recovery, in a spot with a rather cool visual.

Unfortunately it was very annoying, since a wing of 6 ships arrived and attacked before I could remember how collector limpets worked. Forced to low wake out with just 1 of 3 black boxes after the coppers arrived to break up the scuffle, which had drifted out of range of the black boxes. This made it impossible to find the signal source again
Fortunately, after a jump out of the system and back, the source returned, and this time only had 4 ambushers. Managed to grab 2 more boxes before my shields went down, and survived the trip back.
Next time, I get one of those jobs, I take a proper combat ship and smash some fools.
But at least I'm friendly-allied with all factions at Jameson Memorial now, so the missions on offer are improving. Does feel like there's been some shakeup since last I was here. I don't remember them being Federal allied... but that may be poor observational skills.
On another note, I've only just discovered the ability to have the game narrate articles in the codex, in the background of gameplay. It's so well done! I put all the PP2 leaders on a playlist, and it auto pauses around other speech such that you can actually hear it around the "fuel scooping"s and "welcome commander"s...
Edit: the uncompletable missions had to be abandoned. They cost me some rep and I have a fine with a faction who is present on the station, but when I look at the admin contact, it says there are no fines to pay. Confused. Also I was left with 300 tons of "stolen" goods in my cargo bay, but fortunately they somehow went missing between stations so that's the end of that.
2nd Edit: cannot approach Jameson's without crashing. Oh well. It's bed time anyway.
So there is a way to make the "report crimes" option in the right panel work without getting shot at... Good to know. Chhers.A warrant scanner is always useful too. If I get out of range and my shields have regenerated somewhat after being melted within seconds, I'll try to head back and scan someone to attract security.

Sometimes you have to relog while at the station for the fines to show up. If that doesn't work, find an Interstellar Factor in a system where the issuing faction is NOT present, and try there. They cost me some rep and I have a fine with a faction who is present on the station, but when I look at the admin contact, it says there are no fines to pay. I believe the full text says "report crimes against me."So there is a way to make the "report crimes" option in the right panel work without getting shot at... Good to know. Chhers.
Alternatively, you can just ignore the fine. Nothing much will happen, and no other factions will care about it other than the one that issued the fine in the first place.
But it is the same size grind as the one to reach Elite III was and the grind to Elite V will be.Back in my Everquest days, there used to be things called "Hell Levels". These levels always took longer than others to do - there was some funky maths behind it all - and they were a real slog.
I'm in one now. This grind to Elite IV is taking an absolute age.
I believe the full text says "report crimes against me."
I don't think the KWS has any effect on whether or not the system authority will scan a ship.
Thankfully the Cutter can run. It can't turn, but it can run.
Only got a size 6 prismatic shield in it right now, but it was enough to avoid getting kersploded. If I'd actually remembered how limpets work (i.e. do NOT target anything before you fire else they'll get that 1 item and stop) and not been trying to manoeuvre with my cargo scoop open, then I'd probably have been ok on the first pass. 2nd time they got my hull to 77%, probably because I was staying still waiting on the limpets rather than turning to attack, but I got out of there with the goodies.
Might be time to grab the FDL (or build a Python mk2) and do some light bounty hunting to refresh myself on how combat works. And also actually fit a shield cell bank rather than just be spamming the button with nothing happening.
Well Elite II requires as much combat XP as Elite did however this time you are not seeing progress towards intermediate levels which will makes things look slower also before when you were at lower ranks higher ranked ships gave more XP now you are Elite so most targets will only provide fractional XP as there aren't any higher ranked targets.Oh while on the point of elite ranks.. all my elite ranks are going up as per expected, except combat! That's stuck at about 5% towards elite ll, hasn't moved ! Any idea why?
