Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

The FSD Booster takes my Krait from 30 to 40LY so that's a nice little jump for screwing around in the bubble. Fortunately, I had an unused passenger cabin put there after the Cocijo thing so I didn't have a hard decision to make when it came to making space. It was just a multirole experiment.

The Mandalay will be a little trickier but I'm not quite planning on exploration yet. I'll probably just leave space to chill with a bit of bounty hunting and mat collecting.

Funny. This route was probably the first I thought of when colonisation was rolling out. I think Barnard's Loop was my first exploration target when I got the game in 2020. The Cobra was resricted when I got close but I got my first discoveries along the way.

I had a terrifying experience a couple of days ago. I had just popped into an uncharted system and moved away from the main star a safe distance and my dogs started pawing at the slider, so I got up to let them in. I set down my Xbox controller next to the sleeping cat, let the dogs in, went to the bathroom and then to get another coffee.

Meanwhile, the cat woke up and stepped on the controller and sent my Anaconda into SCO and I had no idea. I come back, the ship is completely stationary, dashboard smoking and sparks flashing outside the canopy, my hull is at 21% and I have the red warning banner telling me my fuel is critical, I look at my gauge and the mains are empty, and the secondary is right above the "L" where it says fuel.

I immediately open the R/H panel and start shutting down unnecessary modules and see all the damage, virtually everything has taken significant damage, some modules are at 0%. The AFMU (I only carry one) is at 80% thank God, so I start repairing critical modules leaving the others shut off and at the same time I start popping hull repair limpets all the while freaking out over my fuel consumption during this process.

I flip to the L/H panel and check my distances from both stars in the system, the main is a white star 122,000 Ls away and the secondary is a red dwarf 190,000 Ls away. I get finished with repairs so my thrusters, power distributer and SC are at 100% and head for the white star, I got there with a microscopic amount of fuel left and forgot the fuel scoop was disabled.

Once I started taking on fuel, I started to relax and think about what had happened. I now have the SCO set to a dual button combo. :)

Hi All :)

At the Guardian module site in Synuefe NL-N C23-4 there are nearby Guardian ruins - there you can gather huge amounts of the data you might want. In fact I discovered if I parked between two
After getting an orange sidewinder (Haven't had one of those in a long while).
I've just arrived here / there, in orbit around planet B....popular place, there's 32 player carriers here also 😲...I'm just entering into the glide path...Tally Ho! :D
Edit...Heading for 'AncientRuins 1'...Aww shuck's!...it's on the dark side! 🙃

That is the thing with a lot of the Guardian sites they are either on the night side or shrouded in creepy mist and gloom.

At least that was the case before Odyssey.

So, I tried my hand at a little ground operations - specifically, I accepted a power restore mission.

Took an Apex to my destination, and everything was dark after disembarkment. Of course, the settlement was on the dark side. I stumbled around a bit until I remembered that I have a flashlight, and after some fiddling around on my gamepad, I actually managed to find the item wheel and turn it on. That was about the last thing that worked, though.
I found a hab entrance, which didn't work (ok, no power) and the power entrance (likewise). Since the mission specified the Maverick suit, I assumed I'd need to cut open the red box next to the scanner - but I couldn't deploy any of the suit tools. No scanner, no cuttter, no guns. Yes, I did have the Maverick (I checked on the rebuy screen...). I got the red/green targetting marker, so some part of the game seemed to have the impression that I had equipped the cutter, but that was just about it. Then one NPC found me and started shooting, while another NPC stood next to us and din't do anything. I'd have shot back or anything - but couldn't unholster my guns, either.

After some time of this unpleasant state of affairs, I got presented with the rebuy screen, woke up on a detention ship... what did I do to deserve this? - need to check the logs.. nope, they only show me fiddling with the shields and then:
Killed by , Wilber Myers, AI Light Assault Trooper Class 2

Very strange all this. Can ynyone experienced with foot operations tell me whether I did anything seriously wrong (I mean, even I had forgotten to equip guns in my loadout, I still should have the scanner and the cutter, right?) or I only fell foul of one bug or another.

I should have had
2959, 3, Maverick Suit Class 3: maverick 1: Primary Weapon 1 ++> Manticore Oppressor, Class: 2
2959, 3, Maverick Suit Class 3: maverick 1: Secondary Weapon ++> Karma P-15, Class: 3, Mods: weapon_clipsize
2959, 3, Maverick Suit Class 3 ==> maverick 1

Mysterious - at least for me.

I don't know, but I'd check that you have bindings set for on-foot activities, such as deploying the suit tool and drawing weapons.

Well, on my gamepad, the main tiool of the suit I wear is deployed while pressing up on the DPad, left and right trigger would deploy the different modes. But that's all I can remem ber right now. My brian is still far from working as intended after this horrible bug I caught before easte.

Nice recovery.

Even if you have rebuy cash, it's still ends up being nerve racking and you feel like the guy in Airplane with the waterfall of sweat running down his face. It's an inconvenience in the bubble but it can be a nightmare out in the black.

And I did have a cat about 15 years ago who sometimes liked to try his hand at computering, so I know the drill.

I can only say the two Guardian structures where in daylight with no signs of mist when I made a run. The ruins were in darkness but that's an easier grind.

I only have an answer for this: sometimes not only scavs, but also legitimate ppl can be present at resto target base. I. e. killing them will put bounty on you. They might not attack you if you are not attacking them, but i can not confirm this as i usually just bomb everything crawling with dumbfires.

For the rest idk, can only guess you went with regular pilot suit, can it be the case? If you never touched it from before Ody times, it won't have weapon equipped, and it does not have charger or cutter. Also Maverick's shield isn't that small, it could take a while of one scav's shooting at you to be really killed, assuming you had it on. Check in your loadouts if anything is wrong there.

Also Apex isn't particularly shining on resto missions, as it does not have SRV (move faster, load stuffs, nightvision built in, kills scavs if they come after landing, runs away if necessary), dumbfires and can easilly be destroyed if things go bad way. Better bring your own ship (anything small will do, preferably with a decent shield, as scavs will be shooting at you while you are bombing them).

My main concern was not the rebuy but the data, I've got over a thousand systems, neutron stars, and 10 ELW's worth. I was feeling sick to my stomach.

BTW, cool photo of the cat guarding the keyboard.
