I am trying to find a new ship that i would like ,i have worked alot to be able to get my corvette and cutter . so i went for corvette fully upgraded, witch i am proud of since my beginning lol. now i witch to find a ship that would do all the other things that corvette is best for . i am not the kind of guys to collect ship having 1 to focus is my thing but now i am starting to think about getting a second for the rest of things.

What would you guys suggest ?

i wish to be able to land anywhere with it,doing trade, passenger, ground missions everything apart from combat actualy.
i dont need the top best of the best ship that do best in specific branch. juste a good overall ship .

Nice little pink stroll in the pink sunset up a pink hill to get the pink mushrooms, then

I was just checking in to see if there was another CG available. I was thinking earlier today how much easier it would've been to upgrade ships as a new player had there been as many CG's as there have been in the last year. It's easy money. Though maybe they've always been as frequent and I just didn't pay attention. It's not something I thought about before Cocijo.

I suppose money can't buy you mats at least, so there's still an early restriction in that regard.

That's a tall order.
"land anywhere" would restrict you to a small ship. Small ships are small, so your profits in cargo or passenger runs will be restricted.
Apart from that, the best general purpose ships are probably:
  • small: Cobra Mk. V
  • medium: Corsair
  • lange: Cutter, with the Anaconda as follow-up, until the Panther Clipper is released

The release of the new generation of ships has definitely upped the stakes, it's become very hard for the old style ships to compete against that. If you try them, don't start with the CMV, she will spoil you for all other ships.

To add, if you want to explore, the Mandalay is probably the best, with the Phantom and AspX to follow.

However, don't overlook the Dolphin; this has the advantage of being a small ship which makes landing (almost) anywhere much more viable. Decently engineered (and that's a whole thing in itself :D ) and outfitted, you can get a pretty decent jump range.

As has been said before, a complete all-round ship doesn't really exist. Some come close-ish but have downsides.

@Ashnak has listed the ones that come closest.

You could add the Python for a medium ship, though, or perhaps a T8. An alternative small ship could be the Cobra III.

You know what's really cool? When you've just got done engineering the four Pacifier Frags on your Python Mk2, and then jump into a Weapons Fire signal source to test them out, only to have the civvie you're trying to rescue from piracy fly right into your line of fire and immediately blow up. D'oh!

I swear, NPCs have the survival instincts of Lemmings.

Back in the day there would be two CGs every week, however although the rewards could be good when starting out they weren’t as high relatively as they can be now.
Some of them were to aid the building of capital ships, some were to establish new stations with a follow up CG where the tier reached determined the facilities available.

There were a few that released a new module into the game, before my time there was one for Corrosion Resistant Cargo Racks which effectively failed, the big draw CGs were the ones with decals as rewards.

I thought I'd finally try rails in place of the Krait's class 2 beams. They seem effective. I'll have to do some proper experimentation with them via bounty mission spam.

There doesn't seem to be any significant heat issues either. The large effecient beam effectively acts as a tracer, tap tap tapping away until I can get a good shot with the slow charging rails. I wouldn't want to do any engineering which damages heat efficiency though. Just as I wouldn't have with the beams.

Hi All :)

After posting a question about gaining the cartographic facility in one of my system builds, with just the Coriolis station which lacked it, I've recently got the facility up and running!
Thanks to the poster Maeglin73 (y)
I'm not much wiser how this worked as quite frankly the relationships between building stations / installations and 'construction points' just totally confuses me at the moment.
Anyhow, on said advice I built a satellite installation and when I completed it today, and some minutes later, the cartographic facility became active. Not only that but I think the bar / lounge appeared as well....not quite sure if the bar / lounge was there beforehand... but anyway. 🤷‍♂️

I closed down the game whilst I was sitting at the bar (nobody in the bar offered to by me a drink btw....miserable s$%&* :D).
When I booted up the game this evening I found I was placed just outside of the hanger lift and standing in the concourse!...did I fall asleep at the bar and was sleep walking I wonder?
I wonder why the game didn't for some reason pick up where I left off (sitting at the bar).

I'm thinking of building a planet side port, one that I can dock a large ship on, but I think I need to get some more construction points...somehow...It's confusing, I personally think the build side of things is unnecessarily complicated, I seem to remember when I used to play some of the Egosoft X games building stations was so much easier, (and more fun). 🧐
I sound ungrateful, It's not that I am, I generally think this game is great, it's just the whole building process could be made more streamlined in this respect...imho. 😣
The player built stations inside graphically are good, the personnel moving in and around the facility's isn't too bad either to be positive, pretty straight forward and easy to navigate around too, it just puzzles me why there's so much difference between the two features.

In the meantime once I re-name the main station I'm going to finally sort out and sell off some modules and ships that I very rarely use anymore, then move most of my 'stuffs & ships' there, as a permanent base....just another thought on that....It would be brilliant if you could have a sort of advertisement or noticeboard up in the station that you could sell off 'second hand' ships and modules, or even a 'global' sale board....but of course I suppose that could be abused and no doubt unbalance the game. Great for a single player offline game though.:D...but if the sales were restricted to random npc's?...that might prove useful.

When you log out of the game while on foot and in a space facility you always restart in the concourse just by the hanger lifts. It is the place you get teleported to if you don’t exit the lift fast enough heading up from the hanger.
