Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I've finally started to enjoy more on foot game play and made decent progress engineering guns and suits now that material rewards are better.

Here is my progress so far:

This is by far my favourite gun which I do use in doors and outside. I tend to do a lot of assignations and settlement clearance missions "quietly". Stability might have been a waste on this gun but I can't change it now.

I will add stability to this one soon, but its basically a short range equivalent to the Executioner.

For when targets won't stand still or walk straight at me or away from me. I have the materials to add magazine size, stability and maybe faster handling. Weapon Test Data is proving hard to find, but I found one today in a CMD centre at a pirate settlement I expect I will get raid missions for again soon.

Only need to add night vision to this one to finish it which needs some more engineer unlocks.

I think I want to add improved battery capacity and night vision to this one, but I'm open to suggestions.

My trusty Viper MKIV which has been my Odyssey on foot ship for some time has been superseded by (this won't surprise anyone!) a Cobra MKV. Wickedly good little ship.

In future I think I want to try engineering a shotgun "Codger style".

If you're doing CZs in Open/PvP then Enhanced Tracking is essential to give the wider radar range that other CMDRs will be using to find/shoot you before you can find/shoot them. Improved Jump Assist is also essential otherwise they simply hover over you waiting for you to land and blast you to death repeatedly.

For PvE CZ's then a Dominator can still usefully use the Jump Assist, I don't think you need the battery capacity as there are always plenty of recharge points and other mods are more useful. NV is fun but not essential.

A grade 5 aphelion is an unparalleled shield stripper and can deal effectively with armour too at that level (for when a for is nearly dead and it's not worth swapping for a pixel or two of health). I wouldn't normally bother with stability, greater range is more useful in CZs and its stability seems pretty good anyway. In fact the only ones I've needed stability on at high levels/upgrades have been small kinetic weapons.

For tough-to-find mats like Weapon Test Data, Inara can be useful showing CMDRs' fleet carriers that have them for sale. Not cheap but can save a lot of time.

Hi All :)

I've been doing stuff for both the current CG's, it's been a while since I've done any really focused combat type gameplay but I've been doing so in the AIABA system.
We've had a power cut here earlier this evening but it's back on now (Cambridge Area). I'm at my Sons house so I've had to limit my gameplay with Elite as Minecraft and Age of Mythology Retold (My grandsons favourite games at the moment), took precedence, but I've managed to obtain 75% in both CG's so far! :D
I intend to put some more playtime in on both the CG's again tonight, but I also need to top up the carrier with tritium after coming back from my recent exploration trip. I'm still debating whether to get another pre-engineered class 7 sco drive, but I'll probably wait until after I get the Panther stellar version hopefully sometime on Tuesday, and decide then.

Jack :)

Right, I need to find some Topographical Surveys now. Thank you for those tips.

Thanks again, I'll go with greater range on the Aphelion. I have been buying some mats from Fleet Carrier bars, but I've not seen any Weapons Test Data at carriers that are accessible. I'll try raiding that pirate settlement again and see if Weapons Test Data comes up again in the CMD centre. I have 1 unit so far.

I would also go battery cap and night vision on the Dom - especially if you do CZs at night. As, it seems, a greater percentage are.

An alternative to night vision is extra ammo cap if you find NV unnecessary.

Personally, I can't live without NV in the dark which is why a built second Dom purely for daylight CZs.

I agree - Here is My Planet Night Side Dominator
