Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I can't imagine playing with FA off since I find dogfighting with competent pirates very dragged out and yawnworthy enough without that extra hassle. Obviously I have a lot to learn.

Although my hud always starts in analysis mode, which is kind've irritating.
You're looking at it from the wrong angle. The "extra hassle" is what make things interesting. ;)
It does take a while to learn though, but the point is that with F/A off your ship is more agile and responsive and more importantly, decoupling your heading from your velocity vector means greater opportunity and more freedom in shooting things to bits.

It's a salute emote. :)
Imagine the "o" as a head and the "7" as a hand.
Though personally I think <o looks better, the o7 kind of stuck. It's originally an EVE Online thing.
Oooooooh. I originally thought it was Simon Templars sig but I started seeing other people use it.

And yeah, I much prefer your version. let's make it a thing. <o

Definitely gonna put this on my to-do list for experimentation. I'm kind've in limbo at the moment while hunting for materials anyway so it can't hurt to try something different.

You can start easy with it. Just try to turn it off sometimes. Just for a few seconds to see how the ship behaves and to start working on your counter-inputs, use it during quick boost-turns, etc.
Took me months of focused effort to perfect it (as much as a crap pilot like me can "perfect" anything) so don't sweat it. But it's definitely a nice skill set to have.

There's a video a few pages back showing what can be done with FAoff. Pretty mind blowing.

Edit. Correction, it's in here

You're an excellent pilot, Christopher. Don't drag yourself down.

Nice. I want that.

You only need those if you plan to sell ships or modules to other players. Do you? I sure don't :)

Indeed - we use it a fair bit in the squadron/when winged up but other than that I can't see many people being so altruistic!

I got an invite from my third engineer, Tod McQuinn due to my recent bounty hunting activities, but it was a bit of an anti-climax. I could only engineer one of my multi-cannons two thirds of the way because apparently mechanical scraps are quite rare. At least in my experience.

ALTHOUGH..I did notice that my A cannon fires for longer than the B cannon during combat. I was actually wondering if it'd work at all so that was both a nice and strange surprise.

I've discovered one mechanical scrap since. I transferred my iEagle all the way up to Wolf 397 in anticipation of engineering both ships and I couldn't even get both cannons partially suped up on the Cobra.

And I haven't even revisited the first engineer in Khun since I don't have the materials to get started.

But I do find NPC pirate smacktalk quite funny before I destroy them.

Yes my Corvette currently has twin 4A beams. One is entirely engineered (efficient with thermal vent), the other only half way done. It's really noticeable how much more quickly my right-hand one shuts off compared with the finished one. As you say, actually an interesting experiment on the impact of engineering.

Lol I am a bit of a serial saluter.

Not my idea, but I one I have adapted and adopted.

Just finished my last chance of LTD3 grinding before the patch comes along tomorrow. Who know what it'll affect... anyway, that's put me at a smidge over 9bnCR so I should be in good stead for that carrier if I (finally) decide to get one.

Or not.

I'd really love to see a smaller carrier with less landing pads and whatnot for, say, half the price, with a different hull shape e.g.

And where all the pads are on the inside and you launch through your own mail slot.

(It's amazing how many of Chris Foss' ships resemble fish...)
