Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

My biggest fear in the Krait MkII is coming up against more than one small ship!
Take them one at a time, if a wing of three go for the biggest guy first. go with good shield and hull reinforcements
Npc's don't like it if you fly straight at them shooting. The thin profile of the of the kraits helps.
Oh, and yes actually have all size 3 beams on b1, and burst lasers on b2. The bigger the dps the better.
I always go head on beams a blazing..." A joust of beams at full throttle "..:D
And usually the smaller ships will go ...pop...quicker. Follow the bigger security npc's for help.
I call it shadow patrol, follow the big anaconda's.

In a REZ, I wait for the pirate to come up and take a good look, usually I carry nothing, just limpets.
One stole some once. They insult you and roll exposing the belly of their ship as they turn to leave.
It gives you time to target internal systems. I get easily offended, so that is when I fire first, taking their shields.
They most always turn back for a fight. :D

I opted for the MkII as on paper the difference in agility didn't look that great.

I thought that, but we must be a squadron of geeks as we practise on one another. So we do things like run G5 overcharged beams and G5 efficient beams on a Corvette, and blast one another with each and see the difference. So I tried both Kraits on other ships and found I was on target more and got hit less with the Phantom. They're both great, though.

check the right hand panel under ship, pick the appropriate fire setting, forward, target only, fire at will.
Gimbals are best target only, fixed weps are only forward, turrets can be any ...
Check your controller button bindings, make sure you have seperate rhs and lhs buttons allocated. ??

Thank you for the tip, will check that out.

Yeah, what's the expression?Never turn your back on a hungry lion?

.......

I am not going to write a disparaging word but this is a dreadful misunderstanding of that setting. It ONLY APPLIES to turrets - it has no bearing on the other two types of weapon mount. (Hence why it is called "Turret Weapon Mode".)

I have a dilemma.
One slot left and two potentially excellent crew members. One competent, one expert. One engineer and one practised in the arts of fleet deployment..
if i take one,i will lose the other. Neither of my current crew wishes to leave, both would benefit from hiring either. Either will do well without my assistance.
On such decisions fortunes rise and fall.

Just dropped into Ray Gateway to pick up the good ol' Asp Scout 'The Gimp', and thought I'd have a quick check through the other ships. Found a Dropship with five engineered plasmas. I've really no idea what I was thinking. :ROFLMAO: 🥳

Good grief, it's totally engineered. I really can't remember building it! o_O

Which one works cheapest?

Been mining Painite again, with the Clipper, and getting quicker (120mcr in about 45 mins is the best I’ve managed yet). That said, have now got a mining Python set up, so will be interesting to see the comparison.

In the meantime, I’ve hopped in the DBX to Cubeo, and hooked up with Ms Duval for a first go at Powerplay (back to ED Tutorials I go...!).

Oh, and a Guardian fighter with a Dangerous NPC pilot.
Sounds like the best compensation for flying a larger ship to me!
I have been thinking about experimenting with crew, so it's a possibility.
I was wondering what's changing with this server tick. I am interested in what is happening to the fringe systems the Empire, Denton Patreaus? has under siege. Possibility for some good gameplay running supplies past enemy ships?

My pilot is Elite and she has saved my bacon various times. Every now and then if I'm in the Corvette being lapped by a few Vultures she can spare my blushes. Have hangars on my Corvette, Cutter (miner), Keelback explorer (for fun rather than defence!) and T10 (usually a trader). With the Guardian fighter it's fun, useful and gives a nice light show during combat.

After a long time away I started out with my elite bounty hunter (no trading and exp) - I was going to start again but decided to continue with the same pilot. A couple days relearning the game. I went out into big beyond. Although I have had a couple of mishaps (my own fault!!) I finding myself getting to grips with the combat again - although I still have so much more to learn, I forgot how good this game is, and how much room the devs give you to make your own story
