Are you using prospectors and are they A rated?
100t is still going to be about 70mil it’s still a lot when you think about it.

I go for anything over 40% pianite, pop a prospector and line up for another
last nights run I was seeing 50/60% but low mats
maybe i should stop being picky and like you say mine everything and dump what I don't want

The high/low mats thing is for bonus materials like iron/zinc etc. It has nothing to do with the main content of the asteroid. Basically when mining just ignore material content, better to go to planets for those...yea A rated

A 40% painite/low material rock is a very good rock. In a single hotspot I’ll usually see mostly between 20-30%....more than enough to make vast credits.....50-60% is just huge, that’s like 1m for every two fragments...

Don’t forget to hang on to 10 tons of that painite, because Selene will want that next.
For the unlock yes, just mine and refine and ditch if you need the space until you have passed the 500 tonnes. You only need to keep the 10 tonnes of Painite that you need to bribe Selene with.
Of course if you do find good stuff or extra painite no reason not to sell it, and lots of reasons to do so if you leave the ring or the game.
Busy busy busy.
Jumping around investigating the Ghost ship stuff, brought the 'Larry Niven' back over from Witch Head.
Took him in for another refit and a lick of paint, then to a refuelling station.
Sold the remaining 'Guardian' stock to the station, bought 6k of Tritium.
Jumped the carrier over to Chukchan, further investigations revealed nothing new. Proceeded to Coalsack area, much shenanigans in the Courier.
Forgot to fit hull/module reinforcements... BOOM!
But, cheap rebuy, great fun.

Took "Royale With Cheese", my T9, for some adding of cargo racks. Misread EDDB. Went to the wrong system to buy tritium - they had none.
So... where's the largest stock for as little cash as possible? I want to fill up...

Yeh, unfortunately EDDB and Inara get blitzed immediately.
I did see in a thread where someone explained what system states cause the massive price drop, doubt if I can find it now. I think there needs to be several states in force at the same time.
From what I understand, you should look for refinery economies in Drought state. I have not yet tested this, however.
If you're not trying for the absolute lowest price, though, and are happy with something close to the average, you can just check around some refinery spots until you find something with good supply.
I did the latter last time I was in the bubble looking.
A quick check of EDDB right now shows Dzhanibekov Station in Sosong has a supply of 214,572 and a price of 44,088. And it's a large pad.

Went core mining today, just because I felt like it, and I had discovered a decent looking VO hotspot. I haven't been core mining in a while.
I had to get used to how the PWA works now. My old method of flying in one direction just below the ring while pulsing constantly doesn't work any more.
I experimented for a while and figured out that it works much better if you don't fly in a straight line. Instead I wound up weaving slowly back and forth through the asteroids, while still heading in an overall direction. So, lots of zig-zagging and backtracking. That seemed to work, and once I started doing that I was able to find some cores.
I found 4 cores in about an hour. 2 were VOs, 1 was Grandiderite, 1 was Alexandrite.
I messed up one of the explosions, and ended up with about 51 tons of good stuff to sell. Credits wise, it was pretty slow, but I had fun blowing stuff up.
I'm still 11000LY out, making my way back slowly.

That PWS thing... I don't go looking for cores so I leave it to chance as to whether I stumble across one with a prospector. However, for those who do do core mining, I hope they sort it out soon. I just have a sneaking suspicion it;s going be classed as "working as intended".
In the Dunne, 25kyl from where I am now. Far enough away to soften the whiff maybe?
EDIT In Sosong, stocking up (thanks @Codger ). I wish there was a better mechanic for get tritium to the carrier - even shuttling 744 tons per trip in a T9 is taking a while and my carrier is orbing the same body as Dzhanibekov Station . I'd like to see the option of being able to purchase and transfer directly from within the carrer.
Or is that just lazy?

Today has been very productive! I started a new cmdr and celebrated by buying myself an awesome new outfit from the store...
Then I went and did something I’ve not done in a very long time! BULK TRADING!!
Took my 10,000c seed money from the starter system and had at it!! Its actually been really fun...
Quickly got a Hauler, then a shieldless Cobra, T6.....now in a T7. Just found a nice easy 9m credit/3 jump route so I may actually be able to buy a full space pig before bed...
Trading is awesome, it’s like printing money...
Then I went and did something I’ve not done in a very long time! BULK TRADING!!

done some trading in the t7 288 mainly trit to the careda system , now take the 'touring bus' "dolphin" to visted
