Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Didn't fancy travelling 5,000 ly to visit a s-class star, so headed towards the Thargoid installation near the sector border. Scanned some uplink devices, destroyed some scavengers, and picked up enough sensor fragments to unlock Chloe Sedesi. Currently hauling (basic) medicines from Wanjan to Cemiess. Figure I'll go back to grinding Fed rank and pledge to Hudson after this is done.

At height of the fighting... heyla hoo:

This chap got stuck on the mamba front prongs and took the full whack of lasers and MC's to the underbelly. Ouch.

Still running rescues in Sol in my rescue dolphin Flipper. Feels like this waiting for the limpets to top off the cargo bay.

I gave this a try for the first time this weekend. First I took in an Anaconda but even with lots of heatsinks it was obvious that a different engineering approach was needed to what the 'conda already had. So I bought a Dolphin and did all the coolish mods, fitted 3 heatsinks with extra ammo and sat basking inside the inferno enjoying the view. I wish now that I had tried it out during the attacks on the other stations as I could do with the Imp rank on one account.

I did a tour of the imperial and federation stations the first week and happened to finish in Sol (lucked out there). Got to Baron and need to do my exit mission to rank up from Lt. Commander atm.

The dolphin handles the heat like a champ. I usually get 4-6 rescue missions (22 evacuees) and a full hold for
another 4-6 salvage missions plus mats. My ship, no engineering, is running at 22% on the way in and i usually only need to drop a heatsink if i get knocked off course.

Selenium is one of my most needed G4 raws since it is used in efficient lasers, thermal resist shields and dirty drives. My go-to spot to grab more is LHS 417, planet 9EA, which is close by. These are geo sites, not bio. But if you need some selenium you can find it there. Quite a few more good ones to be had as well.

A month ago I spent two nights hitting the bio sites in this thread, and now am chock full. Filled my bins on Polonium, Ruthenium, Tellurium, Technetium, Yttrium and Antimony. These are all bio sites

yeah, I did a bio trawl (bored senseless by the end!) before going mad on the engineering, but welcome tip for the Selenium 🙏🏻

HELP! Bunch o' Mangy unwashed pirates fried my sensors. I can't repair or reboot it (its red out in the pic below) and I can't find the station in the contacts tab to request docking.

Whats a pilot supposed to do?

edit OK googled it! Was panicking so forgot about google :(

Duh, i always thought reboot was from module menu... since there is a 'repair' button there.

Could you hear yourself breathing in your Remlok suit doing a bad Darth imperession? Always disconcerting, that.

Feeling rested and refreshed after a short stay in Explorers Anchorage, i took off heading more or less due south for parts unknown. First stop on my itinerary is Temple, which i should arrive at in the next few days, then on to Vulcans Gate, finally ending up in the Errant Marches, all three being new sectors for me, so i hope to bag a lot of fresh Codex discoveries and some new life forms, though i haven't yet investigated what they are likely to be.
So far things are going well, only face planted one HG world, and no serious damage, but it's early days. FC's make far travels a little less problematic and my build is robust. It is amazing what returning from a long journey like the last one i undertook will do for one's confidence in survival.

That broke and out of work scruffy little mostly-harmless rated kiddo from some backwater world I picked up when I was Expert just made Elite today.... and I am still Expert! My accounting software says I have also paid out nearly 200m in profit share!

We wanted to head to the bar at Maclean Terminal to celebrate but the station manager said its closed for some stupid Odyssey event till next week. Bah!

I decided against visiting SagA for now. It would've been a complete rush job even if I'd have gone flat out all week, and I doubt I would've gotten there before Monday and the alpha release anyway. A big exploration mission like that it something to savour, I think. Your exploration targets will still be there later and you can only explore them once.

Which also made me wonder last night whether it's okay to post Odyssey stuff here since not everyone can get it early for whatever reason.

Yes, this is me asking about thread etiquette.

I spent most of my spare time this week mission board spamming and I'm now at exactly 50% combat novice. I'm quite happy with that and think I at least deserve a competent rating given the amount of times I've navigated to a station with a broken canopy. Though in fairness, it's mostly higher rated NPC's who smash my windscreen as I allow myself to be interdicted by those annoying 'enemy alert' people who chase you from system to system all night over a 30k piece of courier date. It's just that you can sometimes get the system feds to come in and help you claim a bounty on a much tougher pilot.

I also made it to 80Mcr so I'm well on my way to buying that elusive Battlestar. Just another 4.920Bcr to go.

Nice red glowy aura sunset or sunrise from ELW at He Bo. Probably pretty normal for ELWs but its the first I seen since I started the game last year.

I've seen a few of those over the last year, and yes, they are very pretty.
