Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

My CG participation at exactly 35,000 tonnes right now. I'm at a point where my brain does all the required movements without active thought, as in, I have no idea what's happening, things just get hauled in front of my eyes.
The dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural --- force hauling could be the latest discovery for centuries, and it happened you have just managed it very well. 👏

So, I'm gonna try my luck to see if I have grinded enough rep for 2 rank up missions in a row... that f___ing fed aligned station is 7xxLY away!

Another thumb down to the grind for unclear eta for target rank.
Can't you find a Fed-aligned station any closer? Last time I checked Fad were pretty... expansive.
Also don't forget that you also have to grind local fed factions' rep to be alied before they even offer you the ranking missions. :p
So I think it'll be better to spend the time you would be traveling hundreds of lightyears by grinding something more local.

May be I'm doing it wrong but eddb shows that the nearest station having fed aligned faction is 7xx LY from the buring Evangelis.... 🤦‍♀️

For the local rep, don't worry, got that already from my last 2 ranks, this is the second time going there hopefully the last and then head out to buy my noob vette.

You're going to win the game in no time at this pace...

But seriously, are you having fun? In the end, that's all that really matters...

Making progress is always fun, but the hassle involved is errr..... hmmm... forget it.

I would not unlock vette if i didn't know this BBQ fest (burning station rescue) way to get superpower rep. thanks to this thread.

But then, yep I'm having fun at the moment.

Well, still without a network. Waiting on a sub-contractor of Openreach to "provide a duct link to a new pole off-site" then they can "provide the overhead fibre to link the offsite equipment".

Aaaaaaarrrrrgggghhhh!

I want my ED!!!1!1?!11! NOWZ!

We got nothin'. No wi-fi, no interwebs, no TV. Even the phone network is flaky with H or H+ being the norm. Although I did get a 4G once yesterday.

I mean, we're not exactly out in the sticks here. So frustrating.

Anyway, I've taken solace in buying a new piece of kit:

https://iiyama.com/gb_en/products/prolite-xb3288uhsu-b1/

Later, I'll try installing Skyrim and pray it doesn't need Steam or something stupid - can't remember. At least it'll give me a game to play. Failing that, I'll be faffing around with Settlers IV or Quake III Arena.

We're so internet dependent these days.

Take care CMDRs! I'll see you in the black. One day.

This is my first post so hello everyone.
I just started playing but stopped because of the learning curve and eye watering controls on the Xbox Hotas I bought for the game.I seem to be getting on really well now! Probably because I used the hotas over the year playing Ace Combat 7 and War thunder. Am doing passenger runs in my new Dolphin “Flipper” and trying to get a Sol permit with a Viper Mk3 I built from a combat blueprint which was a game changer for me. I am actually defending myself and taking out ships 1v1 without them even landing a shot on me! I might try a Conflict Zone tonight to see how I hold up being Gang Banged as Flipper made me 10mil last night so am less worried about rebuy as I was down to 120k when I bought and equipped her.
Love this game. I played mostly Frontier on the Amiga from a 740Kb floppy disk but also played the original wireframe on Amstrad 464 from cassette tape. Even on the Xbox the audio and visuals are stunning, almost as good as the Amiga😀
We had decent bugs back then that saved a lot of hassle.
You could lock a station then manually accelerate towards at any extreme speed and as you reached it hit the Autopilot key and suddenly you are in front of the slot ready to dock.
The Eagle Mk3 default ship could be made to inherit the hard points and slots of an Anaconda or similar with an Eject bug so you outfitted a Military 20MW beam laser a huge hyperdrive gave something like 1000LY jumps.

Welcome!
Yes, I'm a new chum as well, but tend to keep quiet and just follow what the superbly experienced CMDRs talk about here.
In regard to, quote: "You could lock a station then manually accelerate towards at any extreme speed ......... ".
I can do that now in ED-H so it's still possible. I have a home base System and Station I reside at, and there's nothing nicer than "coming home" after being LY's away, auto docking at my home Station, and they make me so welcome ......... :D ;)

Must be terrible .......
I'm on my own and without ED-H, particularly in these COVID times, I'd be suicidal. 😢
Hang in there, take care. 🥰

We'll be hoping for the best for you, here. :)

"Overhead fibre" sounds sketchy. Not really sure how it would work.
Worst case scenario - you can always buy Starlink.

As for Skyrim, well, if you bought it via Steam, you'll need Steam (thankfully I have the original DVD version from 2011 so I can play wherever). But AFAIK you can use Steam offline for limited periods of time. I think it needs to "verify your account" about once a week, but it CAN somewhat function. Good luck with that.
