New Beluga pilot enters the chat

Beluga is about 17m longer than a Cutter!

I vote Vespa, you could sling it on the rear of your ship.Or a skateboard.
Having said that...take a long look at these hanger bays. All they need is Rage Against The Machine playing over the PA, and you've got yourself Elite Dangerous Pro Skater![]()
I'm now wondering why I can't haul 750 tons of lumber in my T9...I vote Vespa, you could sling it on the rear of your ship.
On another note, it looks as though my season is coming to an end, it got down to 17°F last night at 7200 feet. We have a storm coming in this weekend, if we get more than a foot of snow it could be all, I think the boss wants to start hauling his equipment out on Thursday. I might get to go home for the winter, this might be my last load.

Hopefully that will come when we get access to planets with substantial biospheres.I'm now wondering why I can't haul 750 tons of lumber in my T9...
Nice scenery you have to work in![]()
And some people want ship interiors, so you'd spend ages walking through a Corvette or Type-9 and then have to spend ages walking back through a hangar...
Well, you can't do it right for all of them. There's always someone who's complaining about something...And some people want ship interiors, so you'd spend ages walking through a Corvette or Type-9 and then have to spend ages walking back through a hangar...
It's all good exercise, I guess. To think, pre-space legs people complained about being stuck to our seats.
Interesting and crazy. There's some very interesting machines and harvesting techniques out there, I think this video shows one of the most dangerous and difficult jobs around, Standing Stem Harvesting. I don't know who came up with the idea, Canadians around Vancouver Island or Americans in the Alaskan pan handle. It's used on ground 45° or steeper, the limber/topper never touches the ground all day, he repels halfway down the tree and throws a grapple into an adjoining tree and Jumars over, gets paid $100 or more per tree.
Their demonstrating the technique on flat ground using a Sikorsky Sky Crane with a 90° grapple.
Might’ve been a good idea to implement the “quick travel” options in the lift menu’s after all - sense of space (and scale, ie: “look how huuuuge my Cutter is”) is great, but not always welcome when in a hurry…And some people want ship interiors, so you'd spend ages walking through a Corvette or Type-9 and then have to spend ages walking back through a hangar...

It is almost as if one has not considered all the implications of ship choice for on-foot activities.![]()

The Cutter, and perhaps the 'Conda and 'Vette, are probably good advocates for the "ship interior" brigade. Can't really see the point in walking around something like the Sidey or iCourier as you can barely fit your backside in themThe sense of scale is impressive. I'm really glad I found out that I could bind a button to the sprint function of my suits...
Personally, I'm not sure if I want a fast travel option, though I must admit that this would be nice to have in real life, sometimes.
If fast travel means we get to experience a black screen that under certain circumstances might last longer than me taking the lift and running to my ship, then I have to say no, thanks.
Sees mental images of several commanders hopping all over the concourse, bouncing into each other, knocking NPC over, which get angry...I like the sentiment, but nb: hoverboard fits in backpack ...heck, why not allow jetpack @20% and the ability to hop about the concourse a bit?![]()

Sure, the smaller the ship, the less interior to walk (or in case of some ships crawl) in - maybe depending on the installe modules. The Cutter, and perhaps the 'Conda and 'Vette, are probably good advocates for the "ship interior" brigade. Not a very serious suggestion...Sees mental images of several commanders hopping all over the concourse, bouncing into each other, knocking NPC over, which get angry...
...but there is potential eh?That being said, I would be happy to be able to use it in the hangar... Or a hoverboard, which would also be cool out in the wild.
Thought spawns images of a Buckyball hoverboard race on some dangerous ridge...
The state change would happen if you fast travel into your cockpit.Carriers/concourses are a single "map" (ie: chunk of virtual space in RAM) as far as i can tell - so, nope, shouldn't involve those 10+ secs of nervous anticipation ("i just tried to disemabark... now i'm in limbo - was my exodata saved?!") that have occurred with "state" changes... still, they're generally better these days - even for those of us beyond the 100ms ping range ;p
Hoverboards are fun.Not a very serious suggestion...
