Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Phew. Just made it in to collect my ARX :D

Not enough time to do a CZ though :(. On the plus side, I do have some port and brandy waiting, along with a nice wedge of Stilton :D

I just had some christian brothers brandy with black coffee yesterday. It was good, so I had another. Why did I stop? This is a good reminder to buy brandy. (We were at Rupee Noon's mother's apartment, in Altair, for Christmas eve).

That turned quite a regular cuppa coffee into a real nice kick in the artemis suit

And which 21st century brand might taste the most like Lavian brandy?

So i made it back "home" from my 5000 Ly trip.
As expected i got a nice payout. Lots of new systems, planets, first footfalls and Bio's.
Now back to regular gameplay.
I have to visit Professor Palin and do his chores, and maybe join in on the holiday event if there is still time.
Also i want to join up with Aisling Duval. I want a few of those prismatic shields.

Hmm.

I've never thought to sign up to a superpower.

Perhaps I may look into it next year.

I had a look at my Dom suits built for CZ's. I don't think I can improve on the way I have them set up now.

I am still unsure about this powerplay stuff.
My approach so far was that I don't pick any side and do missions for anyone who is willing to pay good money. This has led to me being allied to almost, if not all factions in my "home" system Suhte.
And I am not convinced if these trinkets you get there are really worth the hassle.

I am led to believe that some of the trinkets are quite useful and have at times been tempted to go for the Prismatic Shields but the politics and rationale behind power play has very little interest for me and jumping in and messing around with it just to get the trinkets feels wrong to me so the temptation wasn’t difficult to get over.

Glad you made it back successfully, keep an eye on the map now you are back in the bubble you don’t want to accidentally stray too close to Thargoid contested space.

I've just checked the Wiki for information about these rewards and found that the non-explosive weapons are all fixed mounted, which would require my flying/combat skills to increase by at least 500%.
The shield of the prismatic princess might be interesting for a trade or mining build, but as these are not really up my alley...
The mining lance fits quite well to Zemina, indeed.
The only things that sound quite interesting would be the rocket launchers.

Yes my interest in fixed mount non seeking weaponry is virtually non existent.

The mining Lance I have heard mixed reviews as to its real world usefulness and I am at best A hobby miner so again no interest.

The rocket launchers were a minor temptation.

The shields much more so, fit full size ones in a Corvette or a Cutter for a tanked build or smallest possible size in freight or exploration builds for a stronger ship with minimum loss of primary functionality.

I’m much the same with this - never had the desire (or really felt the need) to align with a superpower… independence FTW i say!

Not sure prismatics would do much for me as my interest in ship-to-ship combat is not much more than a passing diversion every once in a while.

This is one thing that could be handy though… and i’m now wondering how much might a “mining lance” improve tritium yields out in the void?

…hmm where’s that - linky if you please? :]

Cool, huh?

If you want to use it for mining only, you're better off with the advanced mining laser (or whatever it is called) sold at Torval's ships.
What made it special when it was introduced was 1. its greater range in mining and 2. some damage output against ships. Nothing to write home about, though. And the advanced laser seems to be even better regarding the range.
