Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

How do you know when you are near to Raxxla?

Well, Raxxla is "the gateway to the dimensions", so when your mission target turns out to be an eldritch horror, something between a Shoggoth and the "scribble monster" from Dr Who, that reverts from its human form and starts spinning across the landscape when you shoot it... then you're close.

As all the bodies move in realtime, it will be dawn/dusk/night/daytime whatever is the correct lighting for the moment when you go there. I know that one can get the impression that it's always night, but taken over a longer time it will average out.
But for any one location it will depend on whether the body is in an orbital resonance (tidal lock) that prevents it facing the light. Dav’s Hope is an example of that in Odyssey.

Just came back from another grocery trip, this time a little further away from home.
Saw some interesting cars out there, one was a Triumph roadster, I think - it confused me with having quite tall, skinny tires. Made it look like it was lifted.
And on the way back I saw my first Reliant Robin out in the wild. Also some even older cars which I wasn't able to identify.
Looks like spring is upon us.

I just had a crappy day and a half, our oldest cat had a stroke yesterday evening, I was up all night with her and I just took her in and had her euthanized. Poor thing was in a lot of pain.

I was tricked into trying a few ground CZ's for engineer unlock because because I mixed up Hera Tanin with stupid Hero Ferrari in Colonia. >8[ It's was alright though, after getting over the fiddliness of their FPS game.

I also ended up going with medium beams and small gimbled multi-cannons on the Cobra to get around the problem of its small hardpoints being so far apart. It seems to be working well for now but I don't know if you get chaffed to death with higher ranked PVE opponents. I'll just have to wait and see.

Though I did try missiles for the first time when I had to begrudingly build a few grades worth of reputation with Liz Ryder. I actually liked the seekers and may fully engineer two small modules as an alternative option to the multi cannons.

Right now, I'm just considering the 5000ly unlock for Palin and Sedesi so I'll have grade 5 thrusters available. At least those two allow you to sell cart data so you don't have to waste mats on the early grades.

I was looking at somewhere like the Jellyfish Nebula, but now I'm wondering if I should just go the whole hog and make my first trip to Colonia with this commander. It seems they have megaships along the route these days.

In either case, I don't just want to blast through it for speed's sake. I don't even think I knew about the discover scanner until I was part way through the Colonia trip on my old account. I probably made less than 10 million creds and thought I was rich. Nowadays I like to keep an eye out for decent planets to surface scan as I go.

Plus I just bought a Krait II and they're not cheap to max out.

I think I'm going to fuel up the carrier and nip out for some exobiology.

EDIT: Fuelled. Route being plotted. Somewhere not too far away, just enough to get some first feet on the ground and copious juicy salad.
Been doing some of that, sans carrier, just me and my Phantom somewhere down the Orion Arm... my alt has been doing some on-foot combat, though, just to stop me going too space-crazy... somehow I can't quite get my brain 100% into the Black right now. Dunno why, I used to love it, but can't seem to relax enough. Might be the time of year!

That sucks. Mum took in our cat alone even though it was technically my brother's, so she was both upset and annoyed.

RIP
You have my heartfelt sympathy. May she have a peaceful time in the golden steppes.
Thanks, it's appreciated. We have that little pistol of a kitten, she likes to hunch up and walk sideways towards the dogs showing them who's in charge. The dogs don't know what to think of her.
