Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

This thing is a monster, I don't remember encountering a star this huge.

After downloading the update (first time in game since), I finally managaed to find
The final Osseus.jpg
.

But as I opened the Galmap to plot the way to a new system, I found that all the star systems were gone. 😨
Bookmarks and other markers of this kind were still there, but no stars...
I checked all the map settings, but nothing would help. A quick trip to the main menu didn't resolve this predicament, either.

The stars were… all gone? Reminds me of an Arthur C Clarke short story I read many years ago, but I digress… uhmm… I saw some blittery lighting in the station, but otherwise most stuff seemed ok …has a full PC reboot helped?

I'll have to check that. Had been busy preparing and having supper shortly after my post.
Just had a graphics driver update and my computer freezing afterwards and at least two restarts as a consequence...😨
Keep your fingers crosse all goes well now.

Does anyone know if the top speed of supercruise has changed, I believe it's right around 2000 times the speed of light.
The new Super Cruise Overcharge FSD can do better than that however it is a prototype and a bit of a beast.
The size 2 version is the quickest at over 4,000 times light speed the larger versions are slightly slower.

As a prototype there are downsides including being only available in class C so jump range is down considerably, it burns through fuel prodigiously so have the Fuel Rats on speed dial, it gives a very unstable ride so you will have to be hands on the controls, it generates heat to levels that will empty your heat sink stocks in no time.

Oh and as it is a brand new prototype from a company that haven’t designed an FSD before but seemed to use Titan data non of the Engineers know anything about it so it cannot be engineered.

This is why I don't let Windows decide when to "update" my GPU drivers.
It was my own decision to do the update. Windows doesn't have any say about these drivers. The issues I sometimes encounter are also due to the limitations of this computer.

And the stars seem to be back. I hadn't noticed beforehand that they were quite scarce up here...

In a new star system, found a body with 5 biosigns.
The first thing I run into after landing:
New System New Osseus.jpg

I scanned it, but after some driving about, I decided to dump the sample and scan some Stratum first, even though it was less valuable. But it was readily available in sufficient quantity to get a sample completed. While I was about scanning the Stratum, I ran into some Tubus, which I scanned after completing the other sample:

(It was of higher value than Osseus.)

Now I'm back in my ship which is still parked near the Osseus and once again I wish the Genetic Sampler would be able to scan more than one species at a time.

New ways to try and break the game...

Have the radar join you in the cab...

Try to enter the landing pad hangar entrance as ships take off and land...

Send SRV tyres flying at a scavenger wreck site... and try to jump into them as they spin...

Play "hoop and stick" (you can propel them faster and faster with repeated melee blows, until the tyres squash into a body)...
