I'm on the fence about the front wing myself. I might remove it. It sort of messes with the "Cobra" look, to me.Great pics especially the second one.
Really don’t like the front wing, the rear wing folding up to fit in the hanger is cool though.
Yeah, me too. Though my last expedition was a little unfortunate in that regard...I'm starting to encounter undiscovered systems as I make my way out toward the core. I'm not going straight there, of course, but making a dogleg path to see a few spots I've previously visited.
The Cobra MKV is performing perfectly, and I'm really appreciating the speed and smoothness, the visibility in the cockpit, and the SCO for blasting off planets. Also, disembarking from the front is great for exobiology.
Got a couple First Footfalls and found 50 mil worth of bacteriums in my first foray. Plus got to see some beautiful sights (which is at least half the reason I explore).

The Mk.V is a pretty ship, but those canards... I think the Cobra is too short for this kind of style. makes it look like a frog.
I was thinking back to the time of the original Elite when cigar adverts were allowed on TV and the classic Carlos Fandango extra wide racing wheels.
Carlos Fandango! There's something I haven't heard of in a while!I was thinking back to the time of the original Elite when cigar adverts were allowed on TV and the classic Carlos Fandango extra wide racing wheels.

I've read good revies of that CPU and, if I decide to get a new rig, that would be the one I'd be looking at currently. What's your GPU poison?I'm planning to build a new PC, so this afternoon I've mostly been looking at parts. I'm looking at:
9800X3D
X670/X870 motherboard
32GB DDR5-6400 (seemingly the fastest RAM that is stable on AM5 without a divider. Performance gains over DDR4-6000 seem to be minimal, however, so I might go for the 'slower' RAM if the prices are right - as it is now, the price difference is minimal too.)
I tend to upgrade in a tick-tock style, so this time it's the CPU/motherboard/RAM that gets the upgrade. This will be a Linux-first box, possibly dual-booting Win11 if I want to play multiplayer titles from developers who won't support anticheat on Linux. The only title I can think of right now would be Battlefield 7, though. I'll be able to determine if I want to do that when DICE release their test environment soon™.
I've been an Nvidia user for over a decade. AMD cards have better Linux (specifically, Wayland) support and drivers that are a lot more open than Nvidia's offerings. The price/performance looks better too, although where the RX 9070 series ends up will determine whether or not I switch. That's next year though.I've read good revies of that CPU and, if I decide to get a new rig, that would be the one I'd be looking at currently. What's your GPU poison?

Definitely looks better without the canards. The aft wings are okay.I took off the front wings. Still don't like the back wings, though. I think I'm going to go with stock, at least until they give me an exploration-based kit of some kind -- antennae, radar dish, that sort of thing
Meanwhile I landed on this airless planet, which had some very active geysers and fumaroles. It's orbiting an Ammonia Gas Giant, so I was kind of hoping to find a Thargoid probe, but I didn't see one.
Those geysers are really loud up close!

Yes, that's what I thought. Like Disneyland or something. I expected fairies.
It looks like Mordor.Like Disneyland or something.
I expected fairies.
A ghost.I had something very odd happen today, I went after a Viper, jumped it from behind and as it turned to face me "poof" it magically disappeared, no wake echo, nothing on radar. We were inside a ring system around a gas giant so it would have been mass-locked anyway, a real head scratcher.
I may be wrong but, with the servers taking a hit with PP, I wonder if lag had a play in this - as if, perhaps, you were chasing something that had long gone.I had something very odd happen today, I went after a Viper, jumped it from behind and as it turned to face me "poof" it magically disappeared, no wake echo, nothing on radar. Ghost in the machine.A ghost.
Maybe that cat you were talking about, it's gotta be guilty.I may be wrong but, with the servers taking a hit with PP, I wonder if lag had a play in this - as if, perhaps, you were chasing something that had long gone.
Dunno. Just guessing.
How can a cat be guilty?Ghost in the machine.

Is PP the answer to why hyperjumping takes "forever" these days, or did I just forget? Also logging into the game I have to literally wait seconds (!) before the game catches a server (Shock!). On the other hand, it runs butter smooth most of the time now, with a Reverb G2 on a 3070, with everything on ultra. I'd never thought I'd see that day. I don't do any Odd stuff, but even the SRV is mostly smooth now. What happened?I may be wrong but, with the servers taking a hit with PP, I wonder if lag had a play in this - as if, perhaps, you were chasing something that had long gone.
