Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

"We're in the pipe, five by five... on an express elevator to hell! Going down!... Let's pack 'em in there! Get on the ready line! Get some today!!". Etc.

....

Oh dear, how sad....

I suppose I should have quoted some Vogon poetry instead...

:D

Mind you, if I had 20 hours to play ED, I think I might have gone all Vasquez.

ETA. Well, spin my nipple nuts and send me to Alaska: the game just lost my pinned blueprint again. And my PC has got itself in boot to BIOS loop, losing the o/c and only recovering after a hard reboot.

Ggnnn.

Bought an Anaconda. Not sure what I think. It's got plenty of space, handles like an oil tanker, overheats if there's a star less than a ly away and the hardpoints under the hull makes it difficult to use an abrasion blaster, when you're inside a split-open asteroid. It's hideous and the visibility is lousy, but I haven't given it up completely (yet), cause it's got room for hundreds of tons of opals... [where is it]

I've been spread thin with gaming time between two ED accounts, and since I just installed Ace Combat 7 and RDR2.

To make matters worse, the weather is beautiful outside!

I suspect the stock E, or a D rated powerplant.

Upgrade to the smallest A rated PP you can.
The Anaconda is not the problem.

presently ; I working on retriving some data from a nav beacon to find something out about a settlement I beleive for 223k !! what I don't know yet. has every time I do this the game hotas/hud screen freezes.:(

and just brought a new ships : viper mk4 , Adder , Asp Scout, keelback

Thanks. I was just about to go and buy an 8A powerplant. And yes, I'm in way over my head with this thingy. This is the first time the mailslot has been scary :)

My last mining trip in the Anaconda got me enough credits to buy a lot of toys, so I'll keep it, learn it and outfit it it. It's got a mighty jump range.

OK, getting a feel for the HRES thing. Tried a Viper III and a Cobra now but I think I feel most comfortable in my Vulture. Just needs a tad more maneuverability. Not sure how/if that can be done - already has A rated, G5 drag drives.

If you are unimpressed with it now wait until you have to rebuy the thing.

With close delicate manoeuvring and good weapons convergence being as important as they are for core mining I wouldn't consider the Anaconda for the role or anything else involving flying through rings of large rocks.

Apart from combat the 8A powerplant is a very expensive bit of overkill for an Anaconda, the ship is a great argument for fitting the docking computer if only so you can learn just how close to the top of the slot you need to fly (very).

"Smallest" is probably not the 8A.
Unless you are running a full set of weapons etc I'm sure you can use a smaller one.
Use https://coriolis.io/ to figure out what you can get away with.
Power overhead serves no real purpose.

Re the mailslot in the Annie, if it feels like you have to duck, you're just right.

Thanks again for the expert advise. Gave her an 8A powersupply (expensive!) and now she scoops! I take back most of the bad things I wrote about the Anaconda. I even begin to like the design.

The Anaconda actually handles pretty ok in the asteroid belts, once you get a sense of the mass. I also use shield booster, so I can back into rocks without any scratches. The collision alarm is on most of the time inside the core, and I'm using the fixed abrasion blaster. Good fun!

Btw. she has a mean face:

Phew! Close call...

On my way back from a prosperous mining trip I was intercepted by a pirate with 130 million worth in the cargo. No way, I thought, but quickly realized that I couldn't make my lasers work. Instead I decided to ram him, costing me my windscreen.

When I was able to engage the FSD again, I couldn't find the station. Then I found out, that looking through the rest of the glas gave me the HUD, but I had to stand up to see my goal. Thanks to VR!!!

When I got to the station I was intercepted again, but managed to escape. Now my oxygen was very low, and I was denied docking because I wasn't inside the 7.5 km range. Relax! Keep calm, you can do it. With less than 20 seconds of oxygen I managed to get through the mailslot. Wow! I'm still shaking :D

My poor Anaconda was pretty damaged, but she did it! She saved my cargo [up]

Maybe, just maybe, I should figure out how my turrets work. Any sugestions?

Nice job!
I do hope similar damage models are forthcoming for the other ships.
The Annie is unique in that regard iirc.

Yes, don't use turrets.
:D

Barring that, you can check/choose their functions in the right UI panel.
