Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Jumped into Eurybia to have a crack at the combat CG, and...
your fighting for the engineer. Liz Ryder . Go with the flow and watch your six. Cmdr :) we
I've also jumped into Eurybia and summoned my Vulture. I'm thinking a bigger ship and some more firepower might be required to make a real dent in the empire. Hypocrite though I am, as I am currently on week three of my pledge to the fair blue Princess.

Well, I made it to the Center today, and I have the screenshots to prove it :)

Star density is off the charts:

And the supermassive black hole at Sag A* is interesting to see. There's a tourist beacon, too, so I felt like a true explorer (just kidding).

It's a Rite of Passage I suppose. Now I can say I've been here. But really, it was the journey that was the fun part.

Now I'll mosey on back to the bubble. I've used just about half my fuel getting here, so I should be good for the return trip. We shall see!

Excellent stuff! (y)

That first photo ought to go in the screenshots compo!

Took the Clipper for some restorative (financially, and for the soul) Painite mining. Much more efficient than usual - first time I’ve had to jettison some limpets for a nearly full hold.

Note to self - don’t mine anything less than 30% what you’re looking for, and 50% is 💯

Yeh. The plasma Phantom is fantastic for taking down big ships, iEagles and Couriers...no.
I'm terrible with fixed, so running out of ammo too quickly.

Rebuilt the Corvette after all the parts arrived, now I'm getting somewhere! 🥳
Just need to remember all the keybinds! :ROFLMAO:

I think a Krait MkII is going to happen this evening. I might take the Vulture out for a spin first though.

Sent all my ARX on livery,so for the first time, Elle Cyd has a complete set of day and evening wear, both formal and casual.

It somehow feels fitting that she should rewarded for all her efforts in getting to the core.My ARX balance is now 44. Cleaned me out to clean her up.
Worth every arx. To celebrate,we went dancing at Event Horizon, and somehow managed to come away with a 160k bounty and some great footage
of her facing down a python, which as you can see is in the preliminary phase of going boom
face off.jpg

This now puts her on the EA bounty hunters leader board in fourth place.(not quite as impressive as it sounds, since there were only three on the board before, and two vacant slots, but we'll take it.)

Aaaw, it sounds like you two lovebirds had a romantic evening.

Aisling Duval unlocks the prismatic shields, which I will at least purchase and put in storage, but I'm wondering if I should go in the opposite direction and retry bi-weave shields. I just feel like they're the better option for a small and fast ship like the Cobra (and iEagle). I can always duck out of a fight for a quick recharge. Or at least try.

Plus, if you're in a fast ship and spending a lot of time in front of your target, you probably have bigger problems than considering which shields to use. A competent pilot shouldn't really be in that position.

I've also received word that my non-working 16Gb memory stick is on it's way back to the seller so I'm glad that nightmare is over. I hate returning stuff but I had to deal with it straight after work yesterday since I didn't know if waiting another week would make the return invalid. I don't really keep ink in my cheap A3 scanner/printer because I don't use it for printing much and I think the ink goes dry. So basically, find a shop that can print files off a USB memory stick > apply multiple return labels to a parcel you may have to go purchase (I used the old America Chavez comic box cuz I'm cheap), then travel to the nearest DPD pickup shop while being asked to wear a mask even though the two customers either side of you aren't wearing any. Probably cuz I is black.

PC seems to be running okay doubled up to 16GB though. I don't think I'll notice much difference at 32Gb but I wanted to upgrade to the motherboard's ram limit before I considered a new graphics card.

From what I have read and partial experience (I don’t have prismatics) bi-weave shields are best on builds where you are expecting repeated attacks so a faster recovery time gives you more shield in place over a longer period, ie combat builds, standard and prismatic are better for builds where you expect infrequent attacks so recovery time isn’t an issue, ie traders.

So to my mind it isn’t so much about speed and size of the ship but what you expect to be doing with it.

So bi-weaves in your combat Cobra build but prismatics in the trader version.

My Kombat Krait is getting tested in the CZs. The trickiest moment was against two small ships as I couldn't get on either one long enough to take it out. I need to engineer the biweaves, not sure what to aim for. I also want to go long range weapons as getting in on the target is much tougher than the Vulture.

I hate fighting Vultures. They're skinny and get right inbetween my laser beams.

Vultures, and any ships which fire weapons from the top while you're on their tail. All hateful and should be banned.

Thanks, aRJay. I try to build the Cobra to be a jack of all trades (minus mining) but you've convinced me to go with bi-weave shields.

It was a fun night. Must have been, because we woke up back in Grim Pioneer, unable to remember exactly how. Only 50 creds reckless fine this time, maybe because we were clear of the toastrack when the infraction occurred. I generally re=enter the station immediately to pay off fines, it saves a lot of hassle later on, but i figure it's a reputation that fits my playstyle, and a cheap room for the night.:)
Guess i'll know what to expect next time she slips on that Brazen Huzzy number.

Yeah. I use the Prismatics for 2 things.

1) My big ships that I want to shield tank with (Corvette in particular), and
2) to enable me to fit a smaller shield and still have good protection on my cargo runners and explorers. I can fit a 1 or 2 size smaller prismatic and still get good results.

They also suit my personality, or rather my gameplay preferences. I don't like to engage in hours of combat. I like one-offs, like assassination missions, and if I go to a HAZRES I only stay for maybe an hour at the most.

So it's not very important to me that my shields recharge quickly. I just want the max MJ I can get :)

I think bi-weaves make a lot of sense if you're engaging in constant combat though. You can boost away for a bit and recharge easily.
