Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

And the good news is .....it only took this long

This was all done in solo mode mostly , so lets just consider this a extended training session...I'll endeavor to stay in open mostly from now on.
Given me a hail on the comms, before you try to rip me a new cargo hatch. I need to figure out how the chat function works? :D

I will be keeping my FC at LHS 2405 as combat support for alt cmdr Segi Klemkan , to try and get up the combat ranks before heading out, or when Odyssey happens.

Combat video 👍 🕺 :D🍻
Nice. Well done, Algwat. (y)

Vindaloo factory proceeds in a somewhat drunken state. Now includes finely sliced taters.
Ran out if chilli powder, Sainsbury only have chilli powder with oregano and other spices !
That's it! Back to Kumo kill everything!
Always add more chilli powder than you think you'll need.

And great job. I make a batch for a meal and then throw the rest of it in three tubs for later.

Huzzah made it to Double Elite. Better head back to Aisling and get working on combat...

that double engineered DSS definitely made my first participation in a community goal worthwhile - 6 probe planets now an easy 3.
And well done to you too!

Still out in Deep Space with my Carrier. Mission Time : 173 Days

Although I haven't found an NSP in the Arcadian Stream nor a Glowing/Green Gas Giant, I've developed a Theory about these Gas Giants in the meantime.
Over 18000LY from Sol, plenty of time to let the mind wander - or crunch some numbers ;)

I love that pic.
173 days in the black! That's... quite some some. Kudos.

Kudos!

On a more positive note, Expanse series 5 starts next week!
Yes! Disney Star Wars and CBS Star Trek are crap so gimme gimme gimme!

The Orville too. Give me more of that.
I had a trial of Prime at the start of lockdown and used it to finish off Picard the series we were watching together at that time I suppose I should have watched Expanse 4 then but I just felt that it was something to do as a group.
Yes, you should've used your time more efficiently and watched The Expanse instead.

Although watching eight episodes of Picard with the woman you love is probably better than trudging through four seasons of The Expanse as a single nerd. I'll give you that.

I was going to order a a 4Tb HHD this weekend but apparently my little Dell Inspiron can only handle 2Tb so I ordered a Western Digital Black at £115. That felt expensive to me. I could've probably gotten a 6Tb Toshiba at that price.

I may have mentioned before but my next PC will be custom built. I'm just pushing this Dell to its limit for now.

PS: I have not played Elite this weekend. I'm still getting my butt kicked in Alien Isolation.

You did mention it before but I can't find it now. Interested in what spec you're going for...

I'm just stretching out the lifespan of my Dell Inspiron I bought last year before I build one myself (or buy a pre-built custom if I have spare money). I jacked up the RAM to 32Gb and now have a 2Tb drive on the way. I could upgrade the SSD boot drive from 150Gb to 500 but I'm not sure that's worth the time and money. It's really just the graphics card and power supply I'm thinking about upgrading at this point.

Just started myself, haven't really got into a lot of things pretty much just been using my FSS to make money on Cartographics been working really well trying to build up some funds before I go into something else, doing it all in a sidewinder atm , I tried buying a Diamonback Scout , but for some reason (even with same outfitting or better) my sidewinder gets a longer jump range so I'm really confused lol

Welcome! Any questions. Ask away. This is the forum for 'em.

Welcome from me too.

If you play around with potential builds you can get to grips with how things "go together". The favourite site for this seems now to be coriolis:

... there is also edsy (new version of EDDShipyard):

Good luck.

Check out the differences between the ships e.g. at coriolis.
The Sidey has space for a size 2 FSD and masses ~50 tons. The DBS can handle a size 4 FSD, but also masses around 220-250 tons. Properly equipped (without engineering), the Sidey will do ~19 ly unladen, the DBS 27 ly.
The classic explorer ship, the DBX, will top out at 36 ly (but suffers, like the DBS, from slow scooping since the largest scoop you can fit is one size smaller than the FSD).
Engineering and Guardian modules change that part of the game quite a bit.

This is very sad to admit but the only thing stopping me pulling the trigger on an iPhone12 as an xmas-prez for myself is the lack of that jack socket.
It's nice that you can afford it. I'm still stuck with an old iPhone 5s as a pay as you go customer. I don't like direct debits or contracts if i can avoid them.

I've always found near mint Apple products on eBay though. I got a really nice iPad Air 2 before I got fired and had to sell it a while back before I got my new job.

Oops. I meant to quote new guy in that previous post. Welcome, Sir.

Finally got my little Blue Yeti X after the original was lost in transit. Currys finally came through even though they have not that great customer service.

She is very pretty.

And yes, I have to clear my art desk again.
