Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I find the cutter's slow input and movement actually helps with manoeuvring, especially as I'm no youngster and hand eye co-ord is off
So now I'm interested again, thanks for that :) I think I partly want one because I currently don't own a large ship and so have never had the joy of parking on a large pad on my Carrier. Much like the Anaconda, way back, I purchased a Cutter, A-Rated the who thing, did some remote engineering, left the station for the first time, hated it, turned right around, went back and sold it. I actually didn't even get out of the station with the Anaconda before I hated it. I was approaching the mail slot and knew then I had just wasted half an hour, a few credits and quite a few more mats.

baah, that's a bit pants

I'm in the 'upkeep is laughably low' camp, but I think it is rather telling that in the summary/bill you get on a Thursday, it only talks about money going out for Carrier services, , not money coming in/going out for commodity trading. Would be a nice addition.

I appear to attract warnings like ants to a picnic. 15 points for one alone.

Best not discuss, I’ll get more.

I have found a ring that is the most lucrative I have ever found. Metal Rich, only has 2 hotspots. Been her nearly 2 days.

104t Osmium
78t Silver
31t Platinum
45t Monazite
124t Gold
14t Rhodplumsite
18t Painite
and around 45t of various other odds and sods.

@sinisalo I’m thoroughly enjoying your updates.

I’m tempted by the Cutter but I’m still concerned about manoeuvrability, I do a fair bit of SSD mining, I can just barely manage in the Python, I get a lot of Trit that way and whilst I’m near the Bubble right now, so buying Trit, this will not always be the case and I cant justify 2 mining ships.

I think I’m giving a (sort of) new CMDR a lift back to the Bubble later, from a Guardian site.

Being in the Bubble is great for Combat ranking (32% Deadly) being near the Bubble is great for mining but I’m getting the urge...the Black beckon. I have some decisions to make.
From a metal rich ring? Nice.

I do find lasering in metallic more efficacious though. But that's using a Cutter where you can stay out for a good while* before having to hand in your stuff, either to the market or the carrier for storage until the market shifts in your favour. I currently have 777 platinum, 214 osmium and 300 painite (and some other bits) in storage on the FC.

No rush to sell. Have enough tritium for a little whle too so I'm off to Research Facility 5592 to see why it got abandoned. If my camera gets some nice photo's I'll pin them up.

Ah, "network services are tmporarily offline" and I'm in lockdown (gawd, even in Elite!) while the bog ole FSD's power up. Until later, CMDRs! @@@07

* not in the bubble though. Too many pirates.

45 in April! feeling 65 though

I'm 52 years old, occasionally, through my work, I speak to people over twice my age. I'm really not sure I could live another lifetime again.

That link is one of the most alcoholic things I have ever seen :)

I used to drink with fellas like you

Bottoms up!

I can relate to not feeling it with the Anaconda. I owned one, never quite got on with it, and sold it. My jam ain't your jam, but I will say I did not have the same sense of apathy or disconnect with the Cutter. I liked it right away. Of course this time it was already G5 Dirty with 40 jump before she even flew out of the station, and made a good first impression. Imperial ships suit me too -- I have never bought a Fed boat -- but now only lack a Clipper on the Imp side. The Cutter, despite it's price tag and size, feels right, and that's key to keeping a place in my small, focused fleet.

Whether the Cutter is right for your fleet I can't say, but well worth running the rule over. Good hunting, commander.

You've a photographer's eye Tyres, another impressive series. Keep 'em coming.

I meant to put this in my last post, but then got all philosophical about fleet suitability and stuff. But I will share where I did my Empire rank micro-grind

My triangle loop was Mainani - Ngalinn - Avitas.

I used Mainani as the hub. This system produced data missions for both of the other two. Ngalinn only had missions to go back to Mainani, and Avitas had none to either station. But there were so many to Avitas from Mainani that it was well worth the stop all the same. These systems are about 230 light years from Sol. One leg was 3 light years, and the other, 20.

There are other places to do this of course, and one with passenger missions to the data stations would have been ideal, and why I took my bus at first. But for pure data trucking this is a good triangle set up. Any ship can do it. With a good combat ship you can mix in the terrorist and pirate lord missions to speed it up. These systems are about 230 light years from Sol.

One thing I really liked was so many landings at outposts. Portside operations and seamanship are a huge part of the appeal of Elite to me. Skillfully operating the ships never gets old. Landings are always fun and I've never used a SCA or DC, not that there is anything wrong with that. And outposts have the fun aspect of always having a different approach depending on where you drop. So it's more seat of the pants than orbitals and just added to how much I enjoyed it. Never felt like a grind ya know?

Lovely pics, Tyres.

I decided to skip one stop on the Colonia Highway and head straight from Gru Hypue KS-T d3-31 to Boewnst KS-S c20-959, missing out on a nice bed in a Starport at Gandharvi.

Every System so far has been uncharted territory which is good for my Exploration Rank [currently standing at 48% Pioneer]. I may level up before I get to Colonia!

Had to log out earlier to clean my screen when I jumped into this system.

Pork Pie and Tea everywhere.

I love it when I jump into a binary system. Great find, Dyson.

And wow. This is way too much resolution.

It makes me remember how great Voyager was.

I loved the opening credits to Voyager... and Seven of Nine.
Still haven't come across one system that has been previously tagged. That's around 40 systems with another 46 to go. I will also entering the Norma Arm any jump now.
Do I get extra Exploration credits for entering different sectors?
