Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I don't know why I do these things :D

I got the permit for Terra Mater. So what does it give me? Nothing unique or special as far as I can see. It's a shame as "work" is required to unlock these systems but very few seem to offer anything. I wonder if there's a sneaky plan waiting in the wings that FDev are hatching for such places... *

* No
Are our precious Terra Mater blood bores nothing to you? Nothing, you say? :D

I mean, I might be wrong... but only a few days ago I was happy to break Competent, and now I am this far in...
I know for sure that they "removed the zeroing out of Rank Progression points for Combat and Mercenary Rank when killing an enemy a given number of ranks below you." because that was in the Odyssey release notes. So that would increase the amount of experience you get from each kill as you rank up. But they didn't give us any hard numbers (as usual).

Ranking up in Combat has always been very slow compared to the other ranks, so it wouldn't surprise me if they did a few things to make it a bit quicker.

t9 fully A rate where necessary slots that required it . And the grind of engineer the stuffing out of it BEGINS
30 lys out in a unknown system. Yes that how far i had to go to get a flipping new 8a FSD drive. Now on the way back.

here she is so far , soaking up the sun:)

That's flummoxed me for a while. Now I just go to the newly unlocked system to confirm my disappointment.

His first suicide run. 😁
Personally I’ve never done it. I don’t see the point. You don’t even get a mug or free anaconda.

I felt quite let down when I made the trek to Rackham's Peak. FDev could have made these things more interesting IMHO.

I think my next long journey would be shooting off in some random direction to find unexplored patches of stars. Not one of the usual 'landmarks'.

Fun mission.

A simple restore power job, but I decided to take my own ship instead of the taxi. En route, I got a scav warning and, sure enough, as I was approaching, two boats dropped their scum. Of course, my missile-bristling T10 just laid down blanketing fire and took them down. Nearly...

Erring on the side of caution, I took my Scorpion out to see if it's ordnance would be needed.

It was!

My carpet bombing had missed one scav.

Time to see how the SRV handled itself. Answer... meh. A btt jittery. Still, it managed it in the end so I hopped out and hot-footed it to the PWR building. And got ambushed by a second holocaust survivor. He nearly had me too as, in my startlement, I forgot to shields-up. Phew. Close.

Good game, good game!

I've found this to be the most rewarding exploration strategy. Also have found some pretty amazing mining spots on the way to nowhere in particular.

R2R would've been a quicker route to Jameson's. But probably not as fun.

I have been doing R2R to Beagle point. Well, initially, but broken off now due to yesterday's mishap with the permit zone.

Another bad day today...

Did a 180 detour (1 Hour) to get to a fleet carrier, as shown as public on EDDB, only to discover it wasnt public , so lost 2 hours

FC is owned by the Fuel Rats, so I jumped on IRC to see if I could get access, but the owner wasn't around.

Really friendly bunch, who even offered to come out to me to repair my hull, even though it's still 99%

I declined and donated £20 to their cause. Pretty sure I'll need them further down the line ;)

I was doing a restore mission. I need to do 10 of them to unlock Jude Navarro.

There were 8 scavs when I arrived. Took those out with the Dominator suit, then went back in with the Maverick to restore the power. Once the power came on, 12 more scavs dropped in. I avoided them for a bit, looting the place, but eventually they ganged up on me in the entrance to one of the buildings. I had to do a bit of ducking and running, but in the end they were all dead and I wasn't.

Another exciting mission :)

Think I worked out how to make a python survive a conflict zone. (I only have 1 active at a time for power reasons, but mostly when I pop one, it's because I'm running to range and have a minute to stop and swap active cells.)

Other equipment includes 3x boosters, 1 chaff launcher, 2x efficient large beam lasers, and 3x multicannons. The problem in a CZ isn't about taking opponents shields down; they're all hull tanks, so I have kitted out appropriately. I'm considering coming down to just 1 laser... but I was out of ammo at the end of the last and I'd rather have twinsies if it happens again.

(Edit: 2 wins in a row, the 2nd one really good actually. Knowing I can just keep on recharging that shield allows me to go more aggressive and not worry about the chip damage I'm taking as I chase something through the scrum. This is definitely more reliable than a light sniper build. As entertaining as the iCourier was, it just didn't have the punch to kill anything fast.)

Also I went to a dark place...

But it turned out pretty shiny.
