Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Treated myself to a tiny bit of bling. Chrome and gold for python, chrome for iClipper. Might get a chrome iCourier too... or maybe a few of the white skins.

Hmm. Took two pictures, one in normal resolution, one in high. Not sure which is best. I can, however, hand on heart say high resolution probably isn't worth the disk space it takes up. Maybe it's because I play in 4K anyway...

The high res one looks better in terms of anti aliasing -- much less jaggies, and cleaner lines, but the lighting is oddly blurry in places, like it has too much bloom or something. They both look pretty good.

Yeah, those lights are too bloomy. I'll try a comparison on a planet and see.

Anyway, back to what I'm up to.

You search for gen. rep. meds for ages, then, all of a sudden, three turn up at once. So, that's Jude unlocked. I'm thinking ammo capacity...

my humble t9 --- final proved it self after i stripped her down to the bare bones.removed all non essentials items.flight hanger and srv bay, collectors controller, added a 6a fsd finally.added a few more cargo racks :)

WHY,

My T9 is purely a haulage taxi for ferrying tritium from a station to my carrier. 752 tons at a time. Given its brick-like characteristics, slow speed etc. I personally find little other use.
Its a brick but for CGs, it really cant be beat.

Even with an FC, I find that its more convenient for me to fly the T9 a bit further out to do full loads from orbital stations.

After getting used to the T9, switched back to the Krait and nearly flipped it on its top onto the FC deck on first take-off.

It's beaten by the Imperial Cutter for cargo capacity but at a price, where the cutter really is better is speed and maneuverability, you easily can escape an interdiction with it and it is no slouch weaponwise but it cost 132,413,610 CR more.

I recon the Type 7/9 are very useful for those who need to use them, the only thing I have against the Type 7 is its footprint, it would be so good if it was capable of using medium sized dock pads, it's maneuverable and very agreable to fly...

Yeah you are right, somehow I never bothered to buy the Cutter. Is the range significantly better?

Since the T9 gets to use the double 6A.

The 4 tons extra is not significant but range is impt for me.

you can change the mass for improvements to roll/pitch/yaw think my in 8 something had a few indication on the mission,1 was a fdl and the chaff sorted that out.just wait for the hyperjump and keep chaffing.
i need to improve my has the light armour is engineer with the heavy armour mod grade 5.although i think i crash on the base once with 67% hull damage taken,a shields boosters quickly booted them up again luckly then havent put on collisions to guards yet i think they have anyway.:) Darn planet hehe

i also now put in a double route option in all cargo mission, and alternate between them for extra precautions.

my t9 is 520t atm

The Cutter makes for a great luxury miner. You can have all the toys - 10 bin refinery two collectors, all mining tools etc - and still have room for 512 tons of cargo space.

Mine will boost to 450 but there's little need as I do my mining in a hotspot where there is no pirate scum. Or anyone else for that matter. Outside the bubble obviously but only two carrier jumps away.

T9 can achieve about 47.5Ly for about 370Ly max speed 131/202
Cutter can achieve about 52Ly for about 267Ly max speed 191/301

Both ships were totally useless builds in Coriolis, the only non core item being a size 5 Guardian FSD booster.

The T9 is fine for routes of just a couple of jumps preferably with shortish cruises after the the Cutters start to win as they can haul more per hour, back before Fleet Carriers changed things Cutters used to win hauling CGs really pulling ahead later in the week when nearby stations got depleted.

Doing a bit of a tour around Colonia; especially materials traders and engineers, making sure I've pinned the useful blueprints and actually have a healthy balance of mats any time I like. Doing those CZs for grade 5 mats really down-converted nicely 😸

(Geez, why are these forums having such a hard time attaching full size images of late?)

Hmm, I messed a bit in Coroilis and I think the ~4LY advantage of the Cutter will not be offset by the Double 6A for the T9.

Dammit, and I just paid ARX for a new yellow paintjob for my T9.

Where is the cheapest place to buy a Cutter to minimise rebuy costs? (your truly here will probably kinetic brake the unshielded hulk into something soon enough).

Cutter and all modules at 10% off in Shinrarta Dezhra, 15% off at Hiyya Orbital in Arjuna stock levels and modules unknown.

True it has all of those capabilities but maneuvers like a supertanker between the rocks because it is way too wide, a box-shaped Type 9 would do just as well despite the speed in those conditions, I mined with a Type 10 and didn't hit rocks as many time as with the Cutter, perhaps it's me of course.

I had two cutters and sold them when I needed some other ship, today I happily do with a Python and 128 limpets, it's as much as I can bother mining at once, plus it's a pleasure to handle in the fields.

From my PoV choice will depend on what one needs, I tried Cutter, Type 10, Type 9, Type 7 and they all have qualities but some other aspects were kind of limiting like their footprint or how they handle in an asteroid field, since I carry most of my fleet on my Fleet Carrier, appart for the Anaconda which I keep in CEOS, I do with two pythons, one for armed transport and the other mining.

If I was to get my rating for Aisling Duval up (Prismatic Shield) again, I'd do all the transport on a Type 9, the Cutter is alright of course but costly.
