Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I decided that the discounted price was sufficient reason to buy another Cutter (they are currently discounted in Summerland due to the CG). I'm not sure what I'll do with it, yet :) Sure is big.

Got a bit distracted by other things, but I found this lovely moon about the temperature of death valley (don't think I've shared this one yet...)

A little barren and flat, but I do have a special place in my heart for things in the goldilocks zone.

And now, I'm just buzzing around below the lower edge of the bubble picking up scan data. Recently started using EDDiscovery, which assures me my scan value since last dock is pretty solid, but I don't quite feel like handing it in right now. Worst case I can sell it in chunks 😸

Not had a lot of time for exploring today myself,, either. though that might have something to do with all that browsing (and buying) model trains and accessories I did earlier...

Ahem. Anyway.

But it has 1 Bio Signal, and no recorded footfall, so lets go look.

Given that I love big craters (and I cannot lie...), we all know where I'm landing:

Either a Thargoid passed by this way and had a series of disappointing bowel movements, or I'm looking at a bacterial life-form colony...

Yeah, Thargoid spoor...

Don't -SQUELCH- step in any...

Man, don't track it into the ship, it was a nightmare last time!

I found all 3 samples within 1km along the craters edge, didn't have to go down into the crater this time. Shame, but I'm also in a bit of a hurry, to get one more system scanned tonight!

Up, up and away:

So, my plotted 'Road to Riches' route is 299 jumps, scanning and mapping the 100k+ worlds I've selected for will net me 95 million when I cash in at Station X, Crab Nebula.

That'll leave me needing something like a further 215 million to hit Elite.

Currently, uh, -wiggles fingers- 13 jumps in.

It really is gonna be a long, long time!

Oh, @Nekozji - EDDiscovery sounds interesting, I'll have to check it out next time I have more time!

But then I thought... why go to bed like a responsible adult when you know for a fact there won't be anyone else in the office tomorrow?

So I went and found this planet where it is always scorchio.

180C in the shade. I'm not quite sure what these bacteria are made of, but I'm pretty sure they aren't water-based! Ah, I can but hope that one day we get a bit more development on weather systems and the sort of organics that show up at 0-50C...

Also I randomly jumped to an M-type star and found this teeny little 1.9 Earth mass gas "giant"! It's the cutest thing! It was only an estimated 9 probes it's so wee.

It didn't really look any bigger from the surface of it's closest moon...

Given the nice experience of all fixed hardpoints from vulture, I stepped up to try it in FDL, 4x Pulse lasers + PA.

Except my poor PA skill, it's going not bad, FDL is less agile than Vulture which I need to get used to, but still ok until I picked a wrong fight apparently...

This was just a "dangerous" conda with SLF.... I managed to end the SLF misery at the cost of 1 ring shield...

I was over confident or just still transitioning from the agility of Vulture, Ifound myself face tanking too long, and while aiming the PP, I rammed into it 🤦‍♀️ It took me 9 mins to end the fight...

I have left the bubble with my alt to witness this phenomenon

It is my first proper trip in the black since the fixes to stellar lighting a few updates ago and oh my, the views are even more stunning!

I have landed on some extremely gorgeous planets, and I can't wait to see more (still 11kly to go)!

Face tanking and ramming speed are viable tactics in a well equipped Corvette. On small ships, not so much.

In fact, in my 'Vette, I won a couple of fights - Iirc against Anaconda's - by getting them stuck on my ships nose. This was great as the initial ram took out most of their shields and the rest was accomplished with point blank lazorz and the full fighting arsenal of MC's with all sorts of mods.

When their ship sploded, my ship vibrated with glee.

I love that situation when I get stuck against another ship at point blank, as if I were holding them by the chin while liberally slapping their face!

I spent some time setting up my new Cutter for trading. I've been using the T9 for that, but a change would be good.

I transferred the new ship to my Fleet Carrier first, and started by fitting a few weapons and modules I had on hand. Then I headed out to Jameson Memorial to buy the missing bits, and do some remote engineering to get that started.

Here's the new ship headed out on the first flight.

I managed to get it mostly outfitted, and partially engineered. I'm missing a few things, like experimentals, but I'll get to those later.

I gave her a new paint job and did a test run with a hold full of gold. The Cutter is much faster and easier to fly than the T9, I have to admit. The profits were excellent (2 jump route, 19 mill).

This is me about to crawl awkwardly up the ramp into the ship. I don't think I can jump that high. (Codger for scale, near the ramp).

I might have to actually gather some engineering mats. I've run low on some stuffs.

29 Jumps down, 270 to go!

And that's just the first leg, to Crab Nevula!

Just pushing through systems today, jumping and honking, only stopping to scan and map the pre-selected planets for loot.

Doubled my progress in an hour and a half. I'm shattered though, so that's it for today.

Still, according to the list I've made about 17.2 million so far, and the extra scanning, mapping, landing and bio-scanning probably brings that to more like 20 million, which is 20% oif my target for this leg!

Not much sight-seeing getting done atm, either, but here's Oochost OK-Q C2 1-1 1...

The Vanilla Custard Planet:

Not landable, sadly, otherwise I would absolutely have set down so I could make like an elephant, and leave footprints in the custard!
