Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

It's normal if you just jump right back to supercruise and don't win the interdiction, yes. It's been that way forever.

Speaking of interdictions, when flying the T9 I sometimes lose the mini-game, it's just such a slow turning boat. So I was kinda hoping I'd have a chance to try an interdiction while in the new Cutter.

I only got interdicted one time so far, and I was able to win it much more easily than in the T9. So, yay :)
Ok, but why? A decent Cutter can carry 640 tons of goodies and still collect the bounty on any NPC wannabe pirate. Admittedly, just ignoring them may give you a faster turn-around, and I'd have to calculate the influence on the hourly credits rate.

I have to say: one of my proudest moments in Elite Dangerous was the first time I evaded an interdiction with a Type-9!

I kept patting myself on the shoulder for a week!

Actually I'm fully armed with 728T of cargo space and very tough shields. I could easily kill them, but I wanted to compare the T9 and Cutter for interdictions.

This is my current build, still in progress, but you can see it's quite capable of fighting :)

In this case it was a "Navy Inspection" anyway, so not a pirate to kill there.

Next time I will probably stop to verify that my weapons are working as I expect. Since the Cutter is new I haven't even tested the weapons yet, lol. Even my T9 is armed and can take out any pirates, though.

Usually when I'm trading I don't stop to kill them because I'm focused on making credits and it's just time wasted. The bounty doesn't make up for the lost time in my experience.

If they have a very stupid name, though, I might stop to kill them just because :p

WOW, Just realized the combat tab of EDDiscovery can reveal the bounty of your target before exploding it!! So no longer wasting ammo for target with bounty <100k!!!

This hi-cap mc conda whacked 43 pirate scums before needing to dock and reload. I have simply put full pip to WEP and fire all gunz on small target to kill them quick, if i were patiently to fire the MC only after shield down, it would last even longer.
13mil bounty in the pocket.

Ok, 2000 ly back to California Nebula, 4000 ly forward to Crab Nebula - 1/3 of the way there now!

Mostly just jumping, scooping and honking, repeating, occasional planet mapping/scanning.

Not much too look at.

So, here's a few shots from earlier in the journey.

A hot time back in the Pleiades:

We had the planet of Vanilla Custard the other day, now here's the planet of Chocolate Brownies:

Planet was covered in 'em.

Close up of the tussocks from the 6 bio-sign planet of the past few evenings:

And for those of more savoury sensibilities, here's a Space Potato:

A Spotato, if you will.

Hit a spot about 1k ly out of California where the stars get a bit sparse if you head direct towards Jellyfish/Crab. I always forget its there, and my 30 ly ish jump range can't quite reach across it - had to backtrack a bit and go up and over, meant dropping three planets (and about 3 million) from my itinerary. Ah well. I'm at about 30 million atm, with the extra mapping and bio scanning, so I'm still on track for 100 million by the time I hit Crab Nebula.

Might even get there tomorrow, if I get a good session in.

And then its 10k ly to Rho Cassiopeiae...

I am just too damned lazy to go rig up a Cutter (I havent bought one yet, even with the rank). The thought of having to engineer the bits again is ...bleah....

The T9 can win interdictions most of the time, its just not fun doing it.

We can pay Apex to deliver passengers, why is there no cargo service? They are in the wrong line of business!!!!

What the hell? Been trying to do loads of missions and I'm making a loss this week. Gave the megaship scan missions a go. First one, no problem, just do some scans and go, picked up 800k. Picked up a lower value mission as this seemed easy. Ended up with a ton of pirates turning up, overwhelming security forces and I stood little chance...

Threat rating 0 btw

Second time this week I've been lulled into a false sense of security and I died...

If Apex turned out to be as useless as Hermes at deliveries, the galaxy would be in a sorry old state :D

ED has many ways to keep you on your toes! Today you might deliver a package to an innocent recipient but tomorrow may find the place teeming with scavs :D

I may go back out in the black. My exobiologist progress bar actually moved yesterday... beginning to think it's slower than combat.

Tried the same megaship mission again, took more care this time and me and the feds almost destroyed all the attackers. One of my shots missed and hit the megaship so all the feds turned on me... Just managed to escape but I now have to go sit on the naughty step.

Decided I'll pick my battles and cancel this mission!
Megaship scenarios have a lot of potential, but unfortunately they've never been properly de-bugged nor polished. I gave up on them some time ago -- just too many problems from cargo that fails to eject from the megaship to targets that can't be scanned to weird behavior of the NPCs. Maybe someday they'll get some TLC :)

I've been raking in the profits doing the current CG in Alcor. Made back all the money I spent on the Cutter, and then some -- over 450 million credits. Trading is usually one of my big money makers, but this has been stellar. I don't even need the money, but there's still something fun about over-the-top profits.

I got promoted to Elite I in trade, too. It's my first Elite+ rank, which makes no sense considering how much I've done in the game. That non-retroactive rule kills the entire meaning of Elite ranks, for me -- not that they had much meaning to being with. It's not even a milestone any more. Oh well.

I would have kept on with the CG a bit more, but I was so tired of listening to the stupid system chat. My god, what drivel.

Anyway, I had fun, made more than enough to cover my next expedition into the black, and I'm happy with it. Re-painted my Cutter, trying the "Platinum" paint job this time. It's kinda meh, but I don't want to buy anything and I had this one already.

Congrats on the rank up!

Halfway there! Progress has slowed, hitting lots of unmapped worlds, and even one wholly pristine system, so I had to touch it all!

Still, I've just passed the halfway mark.

In a change from our edible theming, the planet closest to the halfway point was a little different:

Welcome to the Planet of Novelty...uhm... lets just call them novelties.

Yeah.

The Planet of Novelties.

Onwards!
