Congrats!

The best I can do today is...

Elite - Dangerous (CLIENT) 17_03_2022 18_29_12.png

At least I can now get back to unlocking Engineers o_O

Same here, I rather carry a surface scanner on the rare slot 1s.

And its not just the loop of shame. 1.5 yrs in the game and my first docking attempt in a cutter yesterday resulted in a rebuy because I boosted and clipped the edge of the station as I tried to approach the slot faster.
Never boost in a Cutter if facing something that is less than 1.5ls away, always allow enough space for the thing to stop or start moving in a new direction.

Yes, I feel that chair a bit underwhelming, although I think it's a matter of "first among equals" (a.k.a. could not be bothered to make another model).

I hope they make seat customisation available, at least in the ARX store: I would totally replace it with a folding chair.

" What am I up to" update.

Last night I finally aquired a full set of ground combat gear after several delivery runs and some very useful advice from a fellow pilot about what gear to get. Tonight I plan to try my hand at ground combat, which will also be my first "live" combat in ED. Excited, but also nervous as I've heard many complaints about ED's combat missions spawning unreasonable amount of mobs, which is what prompted my reaching out to other new pilots seeking excitement in the hopes that with a partner, any "unforeseen complications" could be dealt with..

Thus far, many players offer good advice, but I havn't run into anyone willing to team up yet, so I'l throw out a notice in some chat channels tonight and hope for the best!

With any luck, that will be able to fund some upgrades to my newly bought eagle (I must say the small combat ship is pretty, but I preferred the coziness of the sidewinder cockpit) so that I can try out space combat as well. Much as I am uneasy about trying that, especially on my own, I realize I am going to have to learn combat sooner rather then later if I'm to last long out in space..

As an aside, I find myself in awe with the effort put in to ED. The game, while at times clunky, truly feels like a labour of love, and the curious friend I streamed it to last night seemed to agree.

Cruising along while turning on an in game, in-universe radio, staring at the suns going by..There's something quite magical about it.

At least until my distracted mind neglects to slow down in time for planetary descent again, and my ship's emergency break out of supercruise sends me face first into my windshield.

Ah, live and learn..

I'm not fussed about the chair. This is my view when I jump my carrier. Magnificent, eh?

Crikey.

What GPU do you have? Do you need to tone a lot of settings down for decent frame rates?

I'm out in the black again. I was heading toward the Inner Sanctum-Centaurus Arm but I wasn't prepared for just how far away it is. About 6 carrier jumps out and it barely scratched the surface. So, I'm abandoning that idea and mooching around for some undiscovered country nearer home. Proving to be a little difficult.

(Bloody CMDR's discovering stuff, shouldn't be allowed).

And to think I once went to Colonia. Growing complacent and lazy :D

For ship combat, you might like to try a low or medium resource extraction site. They have cops in them that can take the brunt of enemy fire and allow you to practice. Follow them around and wait for them to start shooting first.

Don't hit them though. Things can go... Very Badly.

I'm less than 1000LY out at the moment. Most systems are discovered, but not necessarily completely. Some bodies are untagged, many are unmapped, and hardly any have first footfall. So I'm finding stuff to do. I did find one completely undiscovered system today -- boring ice planets, nothing landable even -- but still. They do exist this close to the bubble.

I like blue skies. I guess because that's what I'm used to here on Earth. Even fairly mundane terrain still looks pretty neat with a sky.

I have a thing for blue skies, too.

They're even better when the planet's soil is green! It's uncommon, but when I get one, it's a gem!

First time I've been killed and lost a ship
The end of my 3 month no fatality streak!

Am currently doing the CG CZ thingy at Gliese 868

I've signed up correctly and got 30+ kills, but my score is still zero?
I'm handing in the combat bonds under contacts - Should I be doing something different? (Apart from keeping out of High CZ )
