Ok, hands up: how many of you panicked the first time you went out in the SRV and then couldn't find your way back to the ship even after looking for an hour and then had to alt tab out to Google up what on earth you could do to find your ship again?

Sort of, the near panic wasn’t because the ship had gone but because of how wrong it could get its return to the ground. Back then there was a good chance of it landing right on top of an unclimable peak or somewhere almost as hard to reach and a possibility that it would crash into a mountain or canyon wall leaving you stranded.

Oh.

Never mind...

There is a cool to watch version of this, go to a low gravity world with geysers and land adjacent to some, with your ship targeted drive your SRV to the one that really thunders and when it is at its strongest drive over the geyser jet.

As you rise past 2km keep an eye on your ship and watch it take off and fly past you, after that you can work out how to control your SRV in flight so you can land safely.

Well, it's entirely possible that I did in fact forget that my ship would auto-dismiss. My memory tends to be malleable.

However, I rarely panic in this game, so I probably didn't panic if it did happen to me.

Which I don't think it did.
