What are your commander names?

I wanted Arthur two sheds Jackson but its too long so I settled for Lord Melchett of Blackadder fame.

I couldnt really use Baldrick as a pilot in the BHS as he would probably start drinking his own urine as some sort of cunning plan.

A man with splendid taste, I see! :)

My CMDR name is Bowsky (a compact version of my surname, removed two syllables for easy comms) 1/8th Polish, 1/8th Norwegian and the rest Swedish. My ancestors truly liked to party...

It works in Japanese; the rules of word formation allow it. "Kamikaze" is a good parallel. "Kami" is Japanese for "god"; "kaze" means "wind".

Strictly speaking, "tetsu" is iron. Steel is "kou". Most people use "tetsu" interchangeably for both though - its quite unusual to meet unalloyed iron these days!

Are you a Pink Floyd fan by any chance?

Thanks for the reassurance :) And I'm a massive Pink Floyd fan. I generally fly through space in SC humming Astronomy Domine to myself...

CMDR KonigWolf

It's a bit hard to explain the origin of my name.. But I'll give it a whirl. I've always had an affinity for animals. Wolves being my favorite non-mythical creature. So I usually tend to go with names with Wolf or "wolf-ish" references (SalvoWolf, Lycosa, DeathFang etc). When I was a kid, and to this day I collected a lot of statues, weapons, jewelery and clothing that are wolf related and people I know made jokes about me being the "king of the wolves"... Which kind of stuck with me. Basically, I took the word "König" (king in german) and modified it mildly to make it less common.. Which worked fine until a company name Tomy came out with a series of toys/games/anime called Zoids and named one of them the Konig Wolf and the Konig Wolf DSR (Dual Sniper Rifle) which was a translation mistake on their part as it was intended, to my knowledge, to be König Wolf... After it became more commonly used as an IGN and people assumed that's where I got the moniker.

I guess that's a good enough explanation.. Missing a bit more back story.. But the flu is still making it hard to focus my thoughts, lol.

Pariah.

Just like the sound of it.

Angus Thermopile.

Named after the vicious pirate/cyborg in Stephen Donaldsons brilliant 'Into the gap ' series of books.

I know it's the wrong spelling.....someone else nabbed the proper one.

I even joined beta to to try and procure it...lol.

Devil's Refugee.
It's a line from an old Oasis song, "Fade In Out".
I like to think that even Old Nick couldnt handle my CMDR so he cast him out.

I am Zhang.

Unless I just reset out of boredom to restart yet once again, with yet another throwaway name. The last one I used was "More Beers" when I infiltrated a PVE group. But I always come back to Zhang.

Because I am and forever more, Zhang.

<RPG hat on>
Arindor Durante, at your service.
</RPG hat off>

I play D&D and Arindor is my favourite character (a level 23 sorcerer who tends to be a bit barking mad at times). Durante just sounded sophisticated at the time, and now I'm happy to play him as a happy-go-lucky entrepreneur.

Cmdr Skellen as a tribute to the late great Lewis Collins from the SAS film "Who Dares Wins"
I was tempted to use the Cmdr name Bodie from the Professionals fame, as I can picture him jumping over the bonnet of his Capri Mk3...... Oops, I mean Cobra Mk3 ;)

it's Cooperman because of Russ Abbot (my avatar pic) who was superman with a Tommy Cooper voice,also my surname is Cooper :)

Had several iterations since I began playing.

AuGuR - Old Quake name. Combination of augury and auger, divination/fourtune telling (prediction) and drill. Was one of the few playing on dialup that could rail reliably.
Augur Stormbringer - Quake name converted for RPG/MMO use.
Driskell - My last name.
Rush Limbaugh - RushLimbaugh is my current Quake Live name, and for those that don't know Mr. Limbaugh, he's a political commentator on radio here in the USA. I consider him funny because he "griefs" everyone stepping out of their political "format", no matter what party they are in. It also seems to give me a lot of attention, because Rush is a staunch conservative, I give those of a liberal spectrum a chance to show how much hate they have in themselves. Though I don't grief people in games, it's more of the "come at me, bro" effect, as it provides interaction that would otherwise be... meh.

Side Note : Honestly think these kinds of threads can be "dangerous". Someone may disagree with something you post on the forums, usually taking it overly personal or were horribly flamed, and use that to cause a bit of mayhem in game.

CMDR Haymitch Abernathy, because I had just finished reading The Hunger Games again and I thought it sounded like a decent smuggler's name.
