What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I've made some progress on my new zoo - Haven Zoo. It will only have animals that start with the letter C.

Capuchin and capy habitat. Instead of making an overpass above the bridge, I made it underneath it - also making sure the keeper is able to traverse the area. The surrounding areas are messy because it's still a work in progress.

I started my new project larch creek santuary with red pandas on the entrance and HBB to the right of it, planning on amur leopard to the left

The lasr couple of days i finally started with the time challenges to unlock those statues for my zoos.

To be honest, it aint fun. Its just spamming into the zoo as many animals as demanded and fullfil their needs as fast as i can. Nothing about creative or beatiful building. Nah, just wasting no time and spam the hell out of it. For example, if an animal doesnt need any plants, it wont get some. Just no time for it. Already finished the last challenge and the one from the australia dlc. But its not that much fun to me tbh.

I personally liked the classic campaign mode way more.

So far I've built a very simple entrance and a staff hub. I'm trying to decide what I want my first habitat to be, and then when I've built that I'll share some pics. I decided with my entrance to mimic the "base" entrance and build it against the map boundary so I don't have to think about the space outside of it.

I'm thinking I'll do what I did with my most successful zoo so far and sort of build 'randomly', as in, I won't worry too much about sectioning animals off into regions or biomes or whatever.

I did a lot of work on my NA section of my first zoo last week. I flipped over to another zoo I was experimenting with the terrain tools in and started on a Binturong habitat. I got distracted by my Red-Crested Cranes across the pathway doing something rather appropriate to a bunch of kids teasing them.

Not sure if animals have a reactionary behavioral set to people teasing them or not, but I watched 2 of my cranes go up to the kids, yell at them followed by an immediate poop then walk away.

Would be hilarious if llamas and camels could spit at people bothering them.

^ I really hate the platform float enrichment. It wouldn't fit in this habitat anywhere. So stupid. Now I need to decide what to put in next. I'm thinking about doing prairie dogs with the lore being "it's the old meerkat habitat". The meerkats will instead be in a newer habitat nearby some African animals later on. Though that lore goes up in smoke considering I have this monstrously modernesque seal habitat right at the entrance (how old are underwater viewing windows in real life? Is it plausible that the seal habitat was always there and just upgraded?).

Decided to do the prairie dogs. I somehow managed to find a leucistic male, and for realism's sake I was going to overlook it but I thought "heck it" and adopted him. These are just screens of the habitat though, not the animals themselves.

What will I do next? No idea. Thinking I might pre-emptively build a skunk habitat or something to finish off the entrance area, to be filled on the 19th when I get the pack (stupid timezones). After that, though, I'm not sure. I've been thinking about trying my hand again at building a truly tiny habitat for either the platypus or dwarf caiman (as part of an Australia House, including the koala and wombat, or as part of a reptile/tropical house, including exhibits, fruit bats, and a larger crocodilian).

Ugh, the platform is horrendous, it needs an absurd amount of space to actually function as an enrichment.

As for the seal habitat, I don't know if it's your thing, but you could just pretend it was recently completely renovated, and maybe put a little "sponsor" sign somewhere around the habitat. It's a nice touch I think.

As it is my custom (and honestly I can't stay focused on one project for too long) I have started a new zoo! It's in temperate Europe, and we're having a "boo at the zoo" kind of thing all over the park. What's different about this is that I've actually made a square that's 30x30, and inside will be my zoo (and yes, I was totally inspired by Masked Bandit's new PlanCo series). I've already set my boundaries, and hopefully that'll help me stay on course and focused because if I have no set boundaries or somewhat clear ideas what I want, I often abandon my projects when I'm not "feeling it" anymore or don't know where to go. I have a graveyard of unfinished franchises! :D

Anyway, the name of the zoo is kind of weird, and I'll probably change it. It's Hallimal Zoo - a combination of Halloween and animal. But it sounds weird. I'm planning on putting in the smaller critters, and our first resident is the Arctic fox. It's so much fun to work on small habitats.

This is the size of the zoo. I've already done some terraforming, and I made a river. I'll try to build with and around the terrain as much as possible because I think it's fun, and a bit of a challenge.

And our Arctic fox friend.

I'll do some light decorating, but I'll wait for the Twilight pack before I really get into it.

Last evening and this morning I've decided to do a one-off build for the first time. Ah, the pleasure of building in a new file without any lagging whatsoever. Should do this more often.

Really wanted to do something with the aardvarks, and I'm really pleased with how this turned out. Will probably save this as a blueprint and put it into my main zoo project once I get around to the African area there.

By the way, the aardvarks need so much space! Thought this would be way too big and they have just the right amount of space. Their traversable area is an absolute pain to build with.

You all are starting a new zoo and here I am patiently waiting because of the new skirts. And I might need the new pieces for my zoo idea.
I planned a lot outside of the game already. Currently debating with myself to start two new zoos parallel and put one of the three section planned for the new zoo there.
I was planning on adding the new animals to Murmeldorf but... most of Murmeldorfs habitats don't pass my building standards anymore. The cons of improving with your builds...

Same here, I have a few ideas of new things to start and old things to re-do but it is all subject to what options we have with the biome skirts.

The creativity and building talent in this thread just continues to amaze me. I know there's some builders that are out of this world with their creations, but there's also a lot that are really, really, really great. I know I'll never reach that but I'm at least passable.

I haven't played much due to the new puppies, but with the wombat coming, I decide to build it's space in Jamestown Zoo. Not very creative since I used my circular habitat blueprint, but since all the other habitats in that area except the platypus are circular, I decided to just keep to that theme. I'll definitely be playing a bit once the Twilight pack releases, to get Wombats in my zoo if nothing else. I've also expanded the section in this way so that I can add in another 2-3 Oceanian habitats in the future, it's really the only section of this zoo that has natural expansion space.

Is this small enough for a realistic platypus habitat, do you think? (Obviously unfinished - there will be a building around it which will also contain koalas and wombats).

Shouldn't you the one to know? :D Most of us never saw one IRL. But realistic or not, it looks really good so far, I must say. Hopefully the traversable area let the Platy move around somewhat.

I've never seen a platypus in real life either - never been to Australia. The habitat works, but it's a bust because the water isn't deep enough for diving (which is ridiculous, these guys should not need 2m!), so I'll scrap it and try again another day when I have more time to fiddle with it. It was experimental anyway, at least.
