What do you want to create for PlanCo in Blender?

this mod is moooving right along. Looks great
Thanks!

All base modeling done (except the eyes), and seams are marked for UV unwrapping. After that I'm going to apply the mirror and make two cows, a sub-divided high-res version to bake a normal map and a lower-res (remove'n'patch the eyes & nostrils) to apply it to.

Not sure how I'm going to deal with LoD after that (never attempted it). And I wanted a calf or two, maybe a bull -- calves are relatively simple to work up from this, but I'm uncertain if a bull will be allowed. Udder-with-teats on cows are clearly allowable thanks to the Cosmic Cow entertainer, but the necessarily pendulous'n'prominent testicles of a bull?

Well, nobody will see the swinging beef anyway, so don't go the rockstar route and spend too much time on that :D

I wouldn't be mad to have a bull without reproductive parts.

Agreed, think of how these critters are portrayed in children's books (or, for that matter, in theme park props!). Details of their reproductive organs are omitted for the sake of, well, not really being needed to get the idea across. (Plus, it saves you some geometry.)

Your cow is looking great!

Thanks! But this is the difference between a bull and an ox -- these are two drastically different animals, not just for people working with cattle but iconically in many cultures. And themes -- for fairytale, pirate, especially western, an ox is a usually placid beast of burden, while a bull is a containable but still dangerous threat. The difference is two relatively small but visible and highly significant lumps at the back end.

I'm not saying I want his willy sticking out! But given the Cosmic Cow entertainer's udder'n'teats, it's established that PlanCo's "crude humor" rating includes showing some secondary sexual characteristics, especially those considered acceptable in public venues. This one? I'd like some clarification before I do the work.

Working on my first creation, a giant butterfly to go along with the other big bugs in game! I figure this would be a good first model to get a grasp on how to use flexicolor maps, and hopefully some simple animation. LODs are going to be fun, heh...

I was looking at the other in-game bugs for sizing - the spider is about 4m, and the scorpion is closer to 8m. I think I'll do my butterfly at 4m, but should I also make a 2m version? I see why Frontier makes two sizes of so many things now!

Lots of work left to do, but I figured I'd share what I've got so far.

Wow! That's some brilliant work. There is only one last thing that you HAVE! to do before uploading this. Adding an emissive material on that lightsaber[yesnod]

I've had some Real Life™ things happening, and won't be able to get back into PlanCo stuff till next year -- hopefully early next year, but no guarantees. So I'm putting up for download what I've done so far on the cow in case somebody wants to build on it:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/laajcz2m7baiuir/Cow_for_PlanCo_018c_drop.blend?dl=0

Rights on this are CC0 2018 KickAir8P Public Domain -- you don't even have to credit me for the initial modeling, although it'd be nice. None of the stuff I talked about above has been done -- this is still mirrored, and I've marked seams but haven't UV unwrapped. The reference photos have been thoroughly deleted (I hope). Sorry, guys. [redface]

Sorry to hear about your troubles, I hope everything's okay! I've been looking forward to this build, so I'd be happy to grab the files and take over. (Unless anyone else gets to this before me, I've got a couple other pieces I want to finish first) And of course I would put a credit to you for the modeling work. You did an excellent job on this model!

Hope nothing too serious.

I've seen your cow, it looked really well made!
You can be sure it's in good hands with SarrahW

Working on an animation for my Darth Maul model to test the animation system. (Not finished yet, he's cutting his legs at the end [haha]
Hope it will work, managed to make the model under the 8000 triangles restriction [happy]

Woah. that animation looks very fluid, did you use motion capture or something?

Thanks! Shouldn't be too bad, just several time'n'focus consuming things happening kind of at once. [wacky]
